BYD Cars PH turns over first-ever Sealion 5 DM-I taxi fleet in Northern Luzon

MANILA: BYD Cars Philippines has deployed the country’s first-ever commercial fleet of Sealion 5 DM-i units.

The ACMobility subsidiary delivered 20 examples of the model to Highland Transport Service Cooperative (HTSC) in Northern Luzon through dealer partner, SEAelectric. In a statement, the milestone initiative marks as a “significant milestone in the modernization of mobility in the La Trinidad and Cordillera region.”

Per BYD Cars Philippines, the new BYD Sealion 5 DM-i fleet is expected to provide extended driving range and optimized fuel consumption for daily transport operations across the La Trinidad and Cordillera regions, thanks to the brand’s electric-first performance and efficiency.

“The new fleet is expected to reduce operating costs for drivers while delivering a quieter, more comfortable, and more sustainable commuting experience for passengers. For HTSC, the deployment supports its ongoing re-fleeting program aimed at modernizing transport services and improving long-term operational efficiency,” BYD Cars Philippines noted.

Further, the company mentioned that the release of the initial BYD Sealion 5 DM-i commercial fleet underscores its commitment to “advancing electric mobility solutions tailored to the needs of local transport operators, while serving as a symbol of efficient, smarter, and more accessible transportation in the Philippines.”

Aside from Palanca, present during the commercial fleet turnover ceremony were BYD La Union General Manager Joel Sevilla, Highland Transport Service Cooperative (HTSC) Vice Chairman Pastor Joel Tabingan, HTSC Chair Marwin Cabading, as well as SEAelectric Philippines’ Francis and Glenn Yu, who also serve as Seaoil chairman and chief executive officer, respectively).
