BYD gives 2026 Seagull more range, tech

MANILA: The BYD Seagull has received notable updates this year that helped make it more city-driving friendly.

For the 2026 iteration, the model can now cover greater distances on a single charge and hosts more driver assistive technologies—particularly on the higher-spec variants—compared to the version available in the Philippine market.

Here are some of the upgrades that BYD has installed in the 2026 Seagull.

Vehicle specifications

Powering the China-spec 2026 BYD Seagull is the same electric motor seen in the version available in the local market, which means the model can still dish out:

Maximum output (in horsepower)	74
Peak torque (in Newton-meters)	135

This also means that the car can still run from 0-50 kilometers per hour in 4.9 seconds.

While the numbers are retained, the model’s new iteration can cover more range compared to the old version.

Thanks to its new 38.88-kilowatt-hour BYD Blade battery, the higher variations of the 2026 BYD Seagull can do up to 405 kilometers while the lower grades’ energy banks have been carried over from the previous version.

The model also offers four drive modes: Energy saving (Eco), Comfort, Sports, and Snow.

Further, the 2026 BYD Seagull’s energy bank can be charged from 30-80 percent in approximately 30 minutes.

BYD also made the 2026 Seagull a little lower as it now tapes in at:

In terms of aesthetics, the design has been kept, except for the new 16-inch alloy wheels, updated taillamps, and new youthful tones (which include a bright orange palette).

Inside, the vehicle is fitted with faux leather for its seats and steering wheel, a digital instrument panel (seven or 8.8 inches in size), and a 12.8-inch floating touchscreen in the middle of the dashboard mated to a four-speaker set.

Other creature comforts that are available in the 2026 BYD Seagull are:

• Wireless charging pad
• 12-volt socket
• USB ports (Type A and C)
• Power windows with anti-pinch function
• Anti-glare rearview mirror

Mounted on the roof of what could be the nameplate’s top-tier variation is a LiDAR system, which forms part of its DiPilot 300 driver-assistance suite.
