Chery Tiggo 9 CSH completes epic 12k journey from Europe to China

MANILA: An example of the Chery Tiggo 9 CSH (Chery Super Hybrid) completed an epic 12,000-kilometer journey crossing the entirety of Eurasia all the way to the Chery brand headquarters in Wuhu, China. 

The aforementioned feat, which was completed on May 25, 2026, was performed by Romanian influencer Dragos Stan with the purpose of verifying the durability and reliability of the Tiggo 9 CSH. 

Specifically, Stan sought to go beyond theory and on-paper claims to “break the boundaries of brochures and laboratories,” and allow the car to shine under though conditions like the continuous curves of Eastern Europe’s Carpathian Mountains, the gravel roads of the Gobi Desert in Central Asia, and all the slippery and muddy grasslands and varying temperatures of the regions he and the Tigggo 9 CSH drove through. 

“Having traveled eight countries and covered 12,000 kilometers, this was not only a remarkable cross-continental driving, but also a global verification of Chery’s product strength, and a strong testimonial to the friendship and trust between China and Romania,” Chery Brand Chief Executive Officer at Chery International Jeffrey Zhang said.

Chery Tiggo 9 CSH

For those curious, the Tiggo 9 CSH is Chery’s global flagship plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). It is categorized as a mid-size crossover and is the electrified version of the largest vehicle in the Tiggo lineup.

In the European market, the Chery Tiggo 9 CSH uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four gasoline engine paired with two electric motors and a 34.4-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery. At maximum, it can produce up to 428 horsepower and 580 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. 

With those figures, Chery claims that the Tiggo 9 CSH can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour (kph) in just 5.4 seconds. It also has an electric-only range of 146 kilometers, a direct-current (DC) fast-charging port, and regenerative braking. 

Being a mid-size crossover, the Chery Tiggo 9 CSH features a three-row seating layout with room for up to seven occupants. It also comes with plenty of on-board technologies ranging from high-definition digital displays, advanced driver-assist systems, as well as a lot of on-board amenities. 

Notably, Chery’s local arm does have a mid-size offering in the rEV (range-extended electric vehicle) version of the Tiggo 8, but the Tiggo 9 CSH has yet to enter the market. 

With that said, the Chery Tiggo 9 CSH could still be an enticing ride for Filipinos, as it does appear slightly larger and more sport utility vehicle-like than the Tiggo 8.
