Nissan to open 1st Nismo Performance Center outside Japan

MANILA: Nissan Motor Company Limited is set to open its first Nismo Performance Center outside Japan. 

Per the Yokohama-based car manufacturer, the facility will be built in Australia, specifically at Nissan Ferntree Gully in Victoria.   

Moreover, Nissan Motorsports and Customizing Company Limited (NMC), together with Nissan Oceania, have confirmed a multi-phase plan to expand the Nismo brand’s presence in Australia. On that note, additional locations will be announced in due time. 

“Nismo represents one of the most authentic expressions of Nissan’s passion for performance, innovation, and customer excitement,” Nissan Motor Company Limited President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ivan Espinosa was quoted as saying. 

“As we advance our long-term vision of mobility intelligence for everyday life, we will continue to deliver new experiences to our customers. The expansion of the Nismo brand in markets such as Australia is an important step in bringing exciting experiences to customers who value performance and authenticity,” he added.

What it means for Aussie enthusiasts  

Per Nissan Motor Company Limited, the said expansion and establishment of Nismo Performance Centers in Australia means that customers can get enhanced local access to authentic Nismo parts, accessories, heritage support, technical expertise, and customer experiences.  

These centers aim to provide a direct link to Nismo’s Omori Factory in Japan, support advanced vehicle restoration programs, and feature factory-certified Nismo Meisters backed by Nismo’s global expertise. 

The first center will open in the second half of 2026. 

Australia as an important market 

Nissan recently staged its GT-R Festival in Australia, which NMC CEO and President Yutaka Sanada attended. 

The visit — the company pointed out — reaffirms its commitment to Australia as a priority market for performance, heritage, and enthusiast engagement. 

“Nismo’s global expansion is about bringing the brand closer to customers in the right markets, with the right products, services, and experiences,” Sanada commented. 

“Australia is a natural priority because of its mature performance culture, strong GT‑R community and clear appetite for authentic Nismo heritage, performance parts, technical expertise and motorsport-driven experiences,” he added. 

Nissan Festival in PH 

The Nissan brand also has a decent following in the Philippines, as evidenced by the staging of the first-ever Nissan Festival in the country. 

Held at the Clark International Speedway, the local subsidiary of the carmaker presented a slew of nameplates, including the Nissan Z and Patrol, which headlined the event.
