Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison is a monstrous off-roader
MANILA: Were you eagerly waiting for a more capable and feature-rich Chevrolet Colorado that can take you wherever you want to go? Well, your wait is over as Chevy was busy making a special edition Colorado that you always wanted. Welcome the new 2019 Colorado ZR2 Bison, that was made possible with the help from American Expedition Vehicles (AEV), one of the foremost off-road aftermarket manufacturers in the USA. This all-new beast is purpose-built with a wide array of upgrades, as well as plenty of undercarriage and body protection, to take on the roughest terrain and weather conditions.
The famed bow-tie logo is gone and so is the dual-port grille on the ZR2 Bison. Replacing them is the Chevrolet lettering prominently displayed on the bespoke 'flow-through' black grill. Further accentuating the pickup's off-road prowess is 'AEV Bison' logo on the tailgate and the unique 'Bison' decals. But the main thing that sets apart the ZR2 Bison from the rest is the fact that sitting beneath those huge fender flares are the huge 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac off-road tires.
AEV has played a major role in making what the Colorado ZR2 Bison looks now. Like for example, now this pickup features a total of five skid plates which is strategically located. These plates are placed below the engine oil pan, fuel tank, transfer case, and front and rear locking differentials to protect them. Durable hot-stamped Boron steel is used to manufacture each of these skid plates. To protect the ZR2 Bison from obstacles and other debris, new front and rear steel bumpers are added on this pickup. With fog lights being attached as part of standard fitment, a power winch can also be installed to increase its powers.
Powering the ZR2 Bison is a 3.6-litre V6 that produces 308 PS at 6800 rpm with 373 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. An eight-speed automatic transmission helps transfer the power to its 4WD system. ZR2 Bison can also be availed with the 2.8-litre Duramax turbo-diesel, for those who prefer diesel power. The diesel engine belts out 188 PS of power with 500 Nm of torque to the wheels with the help of six-speed automatic transmission. This monster, the 2019 Colorado ZR2 Bison is backed by a full factory limited warranty and will be available to buyers in the USA in January 2019. But currently, there is no info whether this amazing Colorado ZR2 Bison will be available in our country or even outside the USA.
