Could the 2019 Hyundai Avante be our Elantra?

MANILA: The 2019 Singapore Motorshow is becoming quite a treat for automobile enthusiasts. First the BMW 3 Series, then the Mazda 3, and now we have the 2019 Hyundai Avante. Well, Avante is what the sedan will be called in Singapore at least. This very car was unveiled by the South Korean automaker not more than a couple of months ago. Although we usually get our fair share quite late, the automakers are being more than generous this time around. It is quite overwhelming, isn’t it?

Coming to the 2019 Hyundai Avante, the sedan made its debut as the facelift of the Elantra. In the Philippines, however, the sedan should come in as Elantra only. The Avante boasts identical design language as the Elantra. Although it is a facelift of the Elantra, the sedan looks more like a separate model itself. The front fascia of the sedan includes a wider than before grille, a husky front bumper, and sharp headlights & fog lamps.

Moving to the rear of the Hyundai Avante, the car gets a complete overhaul at the back as well. The notable changes are the new LED taillights, a redesigned bumper, and revamped a trunk lid as well. To complement the overall design changes, the 2019 Elantra (Avante) rides on newly designed alloy wheels.

Once you get inside of the sedan, you will be greeted by a “floating needle” styled instrument cluster. The steering wheel comes directly from the Veloster and the climate control now has larger dials than before. Under the all-new glorified beauty is the same old 1.6-litre motor which produces 128 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 155 Nm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission unit and a fuel economy of 14.9 kmpl has been claimed by Hyundai.

The Singapore launch of the 2019 Hyundai Avante has given our hopes of getting the new Elantra a decent boost. However, we might have to wait for a few months before we get our hands on the newest Elantra.
