Ford gearing up to relaunch Bronco in 2020
MANILA: Ford has announced that Bronco is about to make a comeback in 2020. The company confirmed the return of the legendary off-road SUV at the Detroit Auto Show in 2017. The car is now expected to make its debut in January 2020.
Ford has recently released a teaser image of the car. Just a silhouette of the car can be seen in the image. The earlier predictions of Ford Bronco suggest it to be a rebadged, re-engineered version of Ford Everest. According to the official teaser, the SUV can be seen possessing a short body and a boxy profile.
Former Ford Chief Technical Officer, Raj Nair said, “ The new Bronco will be a unique vehicle, not a reworked Everest. Size-wise, we expect something smaller than the original Bronco but bigger than the 1980s Bronco II. And if you're worried that the new Bronco will be a glorified Explorer, don't be.” He further added and said, “People have an idea of what a Bronco should be. Certainly, we have an idea of what a Bronco should be, and we're going to be looking forward to bringing that to our customers.”
There have been rumors that state Ford is not planning on building a two-door Bronco. Although, it can be expected that the car will come with a removable roof. Another rumor has it that Bronco could get soild axles at the front and rear.
It has also been noted by experts that Ford’s 2004 Bronco concept is likely to make an appearance in the upcoming film, Rampage, of Dwyane Johnson, a.k.a. “The Rock”. A partnership between Ford and The Rock is being predicted.
The Ford Bronco's base price is estimated to be around $30,000. The car is expected to make its first appearance during the 2018 New York Auto Show in two weeks time.
