Ford US sales grow by 36.6% in July

MANILA: Ford delivered a total of 163,942 vehicles in the US last July, reflecting a 36.6% increase versus the same month last year.

Ford was the only major carmaker to record sales growth for the second month in a row due to improved inventory flow. In July, the overall industry fell by 10.5%. Ford's overall market share rose to 13.9%, up 4.8% from last year and 1.0% from June. Gains resulted from higher electric vehicle sales and market share, F-Series, and premium large SUVs.

Sales of Ford electric vehicles increased by 168.7%. Sales of the Mustang Mach-E were up 74.1%, while the F-150 Lightning recorded its strongest month since launch. The E-Transit also reached a dominant share position.

Ford was also the second-largest seller of hybrid vehicles in July, having a 35.3% increase in sales. 4,364 F-150 Hybrid units were sold, and 2,153 Maverick Hybrid units were delivered.

Ford's market share in the electric vehicle segment is rapidly growing. Ford reached its highest-ever share of the segment in July when it reached 10.9%. This compares to 7.3% in the second quarter and 4.4% in the first of this year.

In a statement, Ford Blue Vice President for Sales, Distribution, and Trucks Andrew Frick said, “Ford was America’s best-selling brand in July powered by strong demand across our lineup. Our overall sales rose 37% in July and electric vehicle sales grew at three times the rate of the EV segment. F-Series hit the 60,000-truck mark for the first time this year, with our all-new electric F-150 Lightning having its best sales month yet. Ford SUVs were up 70%, while E-Transit leads the electric van space with 95% of the electric van segment.”
