JDM-exclusive Toyota Noah, Voxy minivans debut with passenger and driving tech

MANILA: The fourth-generation Japanese-market Toyota Noah and Voxy minivans — which feature convenience tech such as universal side steps and driver assistance aids with the Toyota Teammate — have recently debuted. 

The Noah wears subdued styling, while the Voxy is positioned as sportier with more aggressive exterior details. 

When equipped with power sliding doors, the Noah and Voxy come  with a universal step on the front passenger seat side. The step extends and retracts below the door opening, so as to provide a 200-millimeter easy access step for the children and elderly.

To further ease access, these models also come with hand grips as standard inclusions on both left and right B pillars. Hands-free dual power sliding doors, also included as options, enable users carrying the key to automatically open and close the sliding doors simply by placing their feet under the sensors at the bottom of the front doors.

As part of the driving support technologies within Toyota Teammate, the new Noah and Voxy come with Advanced Drive and Advanced Park. 

Advanced Drive system operates when the Radar Cruise Control and Lane Tracing Assist are activated, at speeds up to 40kph. Supporting detection, judgment and operation, it helps reduce driver fatigue in traffic congestion, Toyota said. 

Advanced Park supports in parallel and reverse parking situations. For the Noah and Voxy Hybrid models, this feature also includes a  remote function, which allows drivers to park or remove the vehicle from the space — remotely via a mobile app. 

Inside, the Noah and Voxy seven-seater models feature captain seats in the second row. In addition to ottoman mechanisms and seat heaters, the seats also have large foldable side tables. Meanwhile, the third-row seats can be folded with just one touch to also allow ultra-long straight sliding mechanisms. 

The eight-seater models come with a three-person bench seat in a 60/40 split tip-up configuration in the second row.

For the benefit of disabled persons and the elderly, the Noah and Voxy can come in the form of Welcab specifications. The Welcab models come with a ramp at the rear, which allows wheelchair to be rolled into and secured inside the cabin. 

As for drivetrain, the Noah and Voxy are underpinned by Toyota's new GA-C platform. The minivans use a new-generation hybrid system that employs a 1.8-liter in-line four-cylinder, electric motor, and battery. Toyota claims the Noah and Voxy's hybrid motor can reportedly net 23.4kpl.
