Lamborghini Huracan successor to use hybrid twin-turbo V-8

MANILA: The successor to the Lamborghini Huracan will be fitted with a hybrid twin-turbo V-8 powerplant.

According to the Italian carmaker, the Lamborghini 634 — the code name of the upcoming vehicle — will be slapped with a powerful mill accompanied by three electric motors that can produce as much as 887 horsepower (hp) with 1,030 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.

It is also said to be equipped with an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox, similar to that used by the Revuelto.

“The twin-turbo V-8 combines the high linearity of progression that made the Lamborghini V10 famous with the high power and specific torque of a new-generation turbocharged engine,” Lamborghini wrote.

In detail, the twin-turbo V-8 — with a displacement size of four liters — can produce a maximum power of 789 horses with a peak pulling power of 730 Nm. The remaining 98 hp comes from its electric motors, which also contribute some 300 Nm of torque.

The Sant’Agata Bolognese-headquartered luxury carmaker also noted that the engine design is brand new. It was developed with the goal of delivering performance and driving emotions that surpass those of the current Huracan range.

On that note, sound — on top of performance — was given some attention, to give the new powerplant a unique and distinctive character as well as deliver the driver an unparalleled driving experience.

“The characteristics of the new V8 intensify in a crescendo that at high revs reaches its peak in terms of volume and frequency content and this, in harmony with the vibrations transmitted to the chassis by the flat-plane crankshaft, creates an all-encompassing sensory experience,” Lamborghini said.

The Lamborghini 634 is expected to be unleashed this year.
