Lopez says Kia PH to undergo ‘reset’ soon

MANILA: Kia Philippines will undergo restructuring within the coming months, newly-minted Managing Director Jose Marie Lopez revealed.

The company executive disclosed such a strategy during a luncheon meeting, saying that it would involve boosting awareness for the marque’s current lineup in the country.

“As we all know, not many brands in the Philippines carry ICEs (internal combustion engine), HEVs (hybrid electric vehicle), and full EVs (electric vehicle), so that’s our biggest advantage,” Lopez noted.

While the company wants to strengthen the public’s familiarity with the brand’s offerings, the recently-installed company executive said that they are looking at more opportunities. “There are a lot of products within the pipeline, but what we want are the ones that best suit the market,” he explained.

Relatedly, the ACMobility-led firm shared in a statement that as it enters the second half of 2025, Kia remains focused on “evolving its lineup and advancing its electrification efforts through innovation and customer-focused initiatives.”

Meanwhile, Kia Philippines was part of the Top 10 automotive distributors under the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Incorporated when it concluded the first half of 2025.

Based on the said report, the firm delivered 4,195 units to clients during the first six months of the year — reflecting a 71-percent growth compared to the same period last year.

“Throughout the years, Kia has firmly established itself as a strong force in the Philippine automotive landscape and with this new milestone, it shows how this continuously holds true till today,” Lopez noted.

“With a compelling mix of innovative vehicles, growing nationwide presence, and a clear direction toward transformative mobility, Kia is shaping the future of mobility in a way that’s reliable, exciting, and built for the Filipino driver.”

Leading Kia Philippines’ performance is the Sonet with 3,171 examples turned over to buyers.

Complementing such a feat is the Kia Sorento's triple-digit sales growth.

Other members of the Korean automaker’s roster in the country are the Kia Carnival as well as the EV6 and EV9.

“Our strong first-half performance shows that more Filipinos are choosing Kia for its smart design, everyday reliability, and growing range of options. This momentum reflects our ability to connect with a new generation of drivers who value both innovation and practicality, especially through The Kia Movement,” Lopez said.
