Manila International Auto Show 2018: Day 1 Round-up
MANILA: The Manila International Auto Show 2018 got off to a great start with some exciting launches and upgrades. The 4-day long exhibition witnessed a number of new unveils on the first day, which will define the upcoming few years of the automobile industry in the Philippines.
From the premium Jaguar E-Pace to the topless Ford Mustang GT, the auto show could not have expected a better start. Here is a quick recap of the first day of the MIAS 2018:
Hyundai Veloster
The 2018 Hyundai Veloster was launched with an all-new turbocharged engine which looks a lot sleeker than its previous iterations. With a bold looking front design, the Hyundai Veloster definitely managed to catch a number of eyes.
Jaguar E-Pace
The E-pace was launched as the smallest crossover from Jaguar. With the looks of it, the Jaguar E-Pace seems to be inspired by the Jaguar F-Type Coupe. Best part? It is available with a starting price of just PHP 4.290 million.
Chevrolet Malibu
The ninth-generation Malibu was launched with a lower, longer and sleeker body, a big makeover from its previous versions. The 2018 Malibu which is 136 kg lighter than its predecessor is expected to be a strong contender in the D-segment sedan class.
Hyundai Santa Fe
Making its debut in the Philippines just two months after its global launch, the fourth-generation Hyundai Santa Fe features a sharper and bolder front with a few changes around its grille and the stacked headlight design.
Hyundai Kona
The 2018 Hyundai Kona joins hand with the Santa Fe in Hyundai’s bid to take over the crossover market in the Philippines. The Kona featuring a low wide stance follows the Hyundai's new future design direction.
Suzuki Swift Dzire
The all-new Swift Dzire was launched with a bold exterior and spacious interiors. The four-door Dzire comes with a unique look than its predecessors and features a black front grille along with thick chrome trim.
Hyundai Ioniq
Hyundai Ioniq was launched as the most affordable hybrid vehicle in the Philippines. The Ioniq comes with a futuristic interior that packs a number of high tech features. Boasting a sporty look, the Ioniq is also pretty efficient in terms of aerodynamics.
Ford Mustang GT
The latest variant of the Mustang GT was launched with an upgraded power engine, technologically advanced features and a much meaner look. The most notable of all, however, is the fact that the Mustang GT is now available with a convertible variant.
Subaru Eyesight Tech and Outback Facelift
The Manila International Auto Show also witnessed the launch of the Subaru’s Eyesight technology which focuses on preventing collision with a suite of safety features with the use of cameras and sensors around the body.
Subaru also unveiled the updated Subaru Outback with a few revision from the pre-facelift version. The engine and power specifications, however, remains the same.
The Auto Show has certainly caught the attention with an eventful first day and the next three days are sure to be a thrilling experience for the auto enthusiasts. The first day has certainly raised expectations and we are very excited as well as hopeful to see it maintaining or even raising the bar in the upcoming days.
