Maruti Suzuki to establish new massive production plant in Gujarat, India

MANILA: Suzuki’s Indian arm, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, announced its plan to establish a massive new production facility in Gujarat, India. 

As disclosed by the carmaker, it has already secured a basic agreement with the State of Gujarat with regard to this massive undertaking. Furthermore, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Gujarat facility is touted to further strengthen the brand’s presence in India. 

The aforementioned location, after all, boasts a well-developed supply chain and infrastructure. It is also closely located to ports, which helps with regard to exporting finished automotive products. 

For now, Maruti Suzuki has yet to say what cars will be built at the upcoming plant, but it estimates that it will be capable of rolling out 1 million units per year. The site area spans 708 hectares, and the total acquisition cost is tallied at 49.6 billion rupees (around P32 billion at current exchange rates).

The most affordable passenger car in the list above is the S-Presso, which starts at P634,000.

Meanwhile, those seeking off-road adventures but in need of easy ingress and egress can likewise turn towards the Jimny five-door, which starts at P1.558 million.
