Mazda PH ties new BT-50 sales to extended Katala Foundation partnership

MANILA: Mazda Philippines has extended its partnership with the Katala Foundation by launching its corporate social responsibility thrust.

Dubbed the 1,500 Pangolin Project, the year-long program — which started last month — will see to it that the firm will give P1,500 to the Palawan-based organization for every new Mazda BT-50 unit sold.

This will further push the latter’s anti-poaching, wildlife rescue, and public awareness campaigns for the protection of the Philippine Pangolin.

To note, the continuing collaboration between Mazda Philippines and Katala Foundation started in 2020.

“This partnership with Mazda gives us hope, not just for the future of the Philippine Pangolin, but for how meaningful and collective action can make a lasting impact on conservation,” Katala Foundation’s Dr. Sabine Schoppe shared.

For his part, Mazda Philippines President Steven said that the initiative “puts into motion Mazda’s dedication in championing for sustainability beyond driving by protecting what matters in the world around us,”

“This project is equally aligned with the vision of Mazda’s Sustainable Zoom-Zoom 2030 and the mission of the new Mazda BT-50 toward supporting environmental responsibility,” he added.

Vehicle specifications

Launched last April, the spruced-up Mazda BT-50 features the brand’s latest take on Kodo-Soul of Motion design and carries technological updates.

Exterior

The 2025 Mazda BT-50 has the following measurements:

• Integrated air vents with air curtains underneath the front bumper
• Front skid plate 
• Ribbed design along the bottom edge of the tailgate
• New LED taillamps with emergency stop signal function
• Larger Mazda logo
• Body-colored side view mirrors
• Exclusive alloy wheel designs

In addition, top-of-the-line option has:

• Black fashion bar with Pangolin badges
• Roof rails
• Two-tone fender flares
• Revolver cargo bed cover
• 18-inch Diamond Cut alloy wheels with All-Terrain tires

Interior

Inside, the refreshed Mazda BT-50 has been equipped with:

• Nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system (new Human Machine Interface) with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity
• 360-degree camera
• USB Type C ports
• Black and Terracotta leather with Leganu Suede inserts (solely offered in the Philippines)
• Toggle switches and physical knobs
• All-weather floor mats

Provided exclusively for the model’s crème-dela-crème option are:

• Eight-way electronically-adjustable driver seat
• Seven-inch liquid crystal display meter cluster
• 15-watt wireless charger
• Eight-speaker sound system
• Dual-zone climate control with rear vents
• Smart Keyless Entry with Remote Engine Start and Walk Away Auto Door Locks

Powertrain

Propelling the 2025 is the same 3.0-liter double overhead cam turbo diesel engine (which is also found on the Isuzu D-Max).

This mill can dish out:

The aforementioned engine is mated to six-speed automatic gearbox with manual mode.

Making the vehicle a capable off-roader are its nifty features such as:

• Electronic Rear Differential Lock

The said technologies complement its one-ton payload capacity and up to 3,500-kilogram towing capacity.
