Mitsubishi XM MPV-Crossover Concept To Make Debut At GIIAS 2016 – Production Model To Arrive In 2017
MANILA: Approximately a fortnight ago, we found a teaser rolling over the internet taking the entire automotive world to a storm. Yes, you guessed it right, we are talking about the teaser image released by Mitsubishi for its newest creation, an MPV. The company, while putting this teaser, mentioned that the new MPV would be presented to the world at the upcoming GIIAS 2016. This renowned Indonesian auto show has already seen the heights in its first edition last year. The show was highly successful with 451645 visitors, 457 displayed vehicles and remarkable bookings for the cars. With the second edition approaching soon, the manufacturers are even more excited to participate with their latest fleet and concepts and Mitsubishi is no exception in that. The Japanese automaker has finally decided to put the concept on display at the esteemed stage of GIIAS 2016 while the production model will arrive sometime late in 2017.
The Japanese automaker has finally revealed the name of this upcoming MPV model – Mitsubishi XM, which will fall in the category of MPV crossover. The car has the same cues and stylings as of the Mitsubishi eX crossover concept which was staged at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. Just like we hinted, the XM model will feature the Mitsubishi signature Dynamic Shield front with the eX concept's sleek headlamps for a wide and stylish face. The lower grille is comparatively wide and broad for smooth airflow. The sides and bonnet are well creased and show the sporty stance with a well-proportionate overall structure. The windshield of this new MPV crossover merges into the panoramic glass roof which again make it look distinctive and appealing.
Mitsubishi has kept the cabin of the new XM concept concealed and so it is still difficult to figure out if this drive would be a 5-seater or a 7-seater. If auto experts are to be believed, the company has chosen Indonesia to be the platform to showcase this drive to the world and this country is a 7-seater drives preferred market, the new XM may arrive in 7-seater layout. The eX concept carried a black and white contrast dashboard which is highly speculated to be a part of the XM model. The engine and other technical specs are also kept under the covers and we would have to wait for a couple of more days till this drive appears on the stage of GIIAS 2016.
So far, the company has confirmed that the upcoming XM model will undergo production line in October 2017 and the production model will arrive by December 2017 or early 2018. This new Mitsubishi drive will be manufactured in the Mitsubishi's facility located in Indonesia.
