New Porsche Cayenne Coupe Electric makes China debut

MANILA: The new Porsche Cayenne Coupe Electric has debuted at Auto China 2026 in Beijing. 

Differentiated by its iconic roofline, it sets itself apart from other Porsche Cayenne with its sloping dome that tapers towards its tail. 

On that note, the new Porsche Cayenne Coupe Electric not only boasts an electric powertrain, but is also among the most emotive and sporting cars in the segment.

Porsche 911-inspired 

The new Porsche Cayenne Coupe Electric was inspired by the 911, as evidenced by its sloping roofline, known in the company as the “flyline.” 

Per the German car manufacturer, the coupe models from the Porsche Cayenne family are different from the A-pillar back. As such, the windscreen has also been designed specifically for the model. 

“The gently sloping roofline sweeps elegantly over the car’s broad shoulders and gives the Cayenne Coupé a particularly sporty appearance,” Porsche Head of Exterior Design and Style Thomas Stopka, was quoted as saying. 

“Precisely drawn lines, wide proportions, and high-gloss black side window strips form a design that exudes sportiness in every detail. Extroverted and clearly positioned, the new Cayenne Coupe Electric is a sports car through and through,” he added. 

Reinforcing its sports car roots is its adaptive rear spoiler, which blends harmoniously into the body. The rear window, too, is embedded and flush-mounted with fewer joints — for a clean, modern look. 

The coupe’s shape isn’t just for looks. The overall design of the roofline helps reduce drag with the new Porsche Cayenne Coupe Electric, having a coefficient drag (Cd) value of 0.23. In comparison, the Cayenne SUV (sport utility vehicle) has a Cd value of 0.25. 

According to the Stuttgart-headquartered marque, it increases the combined Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure range of the Cayenne Coupe Electric by up to 18 kilometres (km) to up to 669 km, depending on the model, compared to the SUV. 

Exterior, interior features 

The new Porsche Cayenne Coupe Electric is the same length as the Cayenne SUV at 4,985 millimetres (mm) long and 1,980 mm wide. However, the highest point of the car is 24 mm lower, at 1,650 mm. 

Despite its sporting lines, the coupe offers a high level of practicality, with a load volume of 534 to 1,347 liters (L) and a front luggage compartment (aka frunk) that holds an additional 90 L. 

As with the SUV, a towbar — with a towing capacity of up to 3.5 tons — is available. For customers with increased demands on the ruggedness of their car, an off-road package can also be had. 

In terms of interior layout, the latest iteration of the Porsche Cayenne offers two seats at the front with rear seats available in either a two-seat or 2+1 layout. 

Once inside, occupants will be treated to a generous display area including a fully digital instrument cluster, the central Flow Display, as well as a passenger display and an AR (augmented reality) head-up display as an option. 

Digital and analogue controls complement each other and are ergonomically optimized for ease of access. Personalization of the said displays can be done via the Porsche Digital Interaction with custom widgets, display themes, and integration of third-party applications. 

The new Porsche Cayenne Coupe Electric also gets a panoramic glass roof, which can be had optionally with Variable Light Control, an electrically switchable liquid crystal film. 

Likewise, it receives Sport Chrono Package as standard. 

Lightweight Sport package for PH market

In the Philippines, the rear-wheel steering and the Lightweight Sport package are also available as options. Depending on the model, it reduces the car’s weight by up to 17.6 kilograms. 

The package includes a lightweight carbon roof, sporty carbon inserts, package-specific 22-inch wheels, and high-performance tires. 

Inside, sporty elements feature heavily, such as the seat center panels trimmed in classic Pepita pattern cloth, the Race-Tex headliner, and open-pore carbon surfaces. 

The Lightweight Sport package can also be combined with black leather upholstery and a 2+1 rear seat system. 

Variants 

Porsche revealed that upon launch, the Cayenne Coupe Electric will be available in three trims, namely: 

• Porsche Cayenne Coupe Electric 
• Porsche Cayenne S Coupe Electric 
• Porsche Cayenne Turbo Coupe Electric 

Adaptive air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management as standard across the board. Meanwhile, the Porsche Active Ride active suspension system is optionally available on the Cayenne S Coupe Electric and Cayenne Turbo Coupe Electric.
