In a release, CAMPI President Atty. Rommel Gutierrez said that the industry has already surpassed last year’s overall sales performance. November also marked the “highest monthly performance so far for the year.”

Leading the charge in November is Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP) — selling 12,690 vehicles (accounting for 47.97% of the total in the month). TMP auto sales grew by 13.7% month on month from 11,157 units in October. YTD, the company has moved 116,165 vehicles, up by 34.6% over the 86,303 units it sold during the same period last year. Overall, Toyota accounts for 48.27% of YTD.

Holding steady in second place is Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) with 3,918 units sold in November — up by 43.3% month on month (from 2,735 vehicles). The company accounted for 14.81% of sales on November. MMPC’s YTD sales total is 33,483 or 13.91% of total vehicles sold. This is 0.9% higher than the sales performance over the same period last year.

Nissan Philippines, Inc. (NPI) is in third for the month with 2,241 units sold (up by 18.8% versus October’s 1,887 total). It cornered 8.47% of CAMPI/TMA sales. YTD, the company has sold 17,235 units – 11.6% below the same period last year’s performance – and places fifth overall.

Ford Motor Company Philippines, Inc. (FMCPI) ranks fourth in November with 1,860 units sold, (up from 1,580 in October). It cornered 7.03% of the market in November; YTD unit sales total is 18,154 — good for third overall.

Fifth place in November belongs to Suzuki Philippines, Inc. (SPH), which attains 6.27% market share for the month as it sold 1,658 vehicles —13% more than the October sum of 1,464 units. YTD, SPH is still in fourth place overall as it has sold 17,567 automobiles (accounting for 7.3% share).

Atty. Gutierrez stated, “Surpassing our last year’s sales performance gives the industry a renewed hope that recovery is underway as restrictions started easing, and economic activities have resumed at improved levels. However, the industry remains cautious and on guard at the same time on the uncertainties brought by the COVID-19 mutations, which hopefully will not undermine our recovery.”

He added that the “paradigm shift to online sales and marketing methods and activities will definitely continue. This has become a viable strategy for the automotive industry to meet the needs of our stakeholders.”
