Rolls-Royce CEO pens letter teasing all-new Ghost
MANILA: An all-new Rolls-Royce Ghost is on the way and to tease the upcoming launch, CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös pens a “Dear Reader” letter touting the virtues of the brand’s most successful nameplate and to also keep the interest of customers piqued.
According to Müller-Ötvös the second-generation Ghost is on its “final development stages” and that crew are “carefully and responsibly continued work on finalizing this remarkable motor car” amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
To be able to please future owners during its ten-year cycle, the automaker took input from clients for the all-new Ghost and yet kept one of its most appealing features, “the car’s pared-back simplicity.”
Customers wanted a more minimalist design and that echoed the data from the automaker’s Luxury Intelligence Unit in Goodwood, West Sussex. Their research indicated an emerging contemporary movement called ‘Post Opulence’. It still a tendency towards luxury but with a new design that shows reduction and restraint. Items “that don’t shout, but rather, whisper” and ones with “purity by rejecting obvious and unnecessary embellishments and overt complication.”
It’s been five years since work began on the all-new Ghost and the only carryovers from the previous model was the Spirit of Ecstasy and umbrellas. Every part “has been designed, engineered, and crafted from the ground up at our Global Center of Luxury Manufacturing Excellence.”
Rolls-Royce is set to launch the all-new Ghost in the autumn of 2020.
