Subaru Forester receives 2022 Top Safety Pick+ award

MANILA: Subaru of America, Inc. announced that the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has given the 2022 Forester compact SUV a Top Safety Pick+ award. This is the 16th year in a row that Forester has been an IIHS Top Safety Pick, and it joins seven other Subaru models that have earned an IIHS award this year, including the Ascent (Evoltis), BRZ, Crosstrek, Crosstrek Hybrid, Legacy, Outback, and Impreza.

To receive a 2022 Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ award, vehicles must receive "Good" ratings in each of IIHS's six crashworthiness tests; "Good" or "Acceptable" headlight ratings, and available front crash prevention that achieves "Advanced" or "Superior" ratings in both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations. The "Plus" is only given to vehicles that have "Good" or "Acceptable" headlights.

The 2022 Forester earned the highest rating for all crashworthiness and crash avoidance tests. The performance of headlights on all trim levels received the highest rating. The standard EyeSight Driver Assist Technology also received top ratings on both the vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian tests.

In a statement, Subaru of America, Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer Thomas Doll said, “The Forester, beloved by so many, has earned its 16th consecutive IIHS Top Safety Pick award. We are committed to providing customers with vehicles set to the highest safety standards year over year and this streak is a testament to that commitment.”

The Forester is also the newest addition to the Wilderness family of adventure-ready vehicles. In this new trim level,  Subaru's renowned Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive is combined with a specially tuned drivetrain, standard X-Mode, higher 9.2-inch ground clearance, and exclusive wheels with all-terrain tires.
