Subaru launches Solterra, Forester e-Boxer Hybrid GT Edition at Singapore Motorshow 2023

MANILA: Subaru joined Singapore’s longest-running premium motoring event, the Singapore Motorshow.

Visitors experienced four full days of excitement from January 12 to 15 as Subaru displayed its widest lineup to date. There were thrilling performances, special offers, freebies, and exciting activities that highlight Subaru's cutting-edge technologies.

Firstly, with the launch of the legendary all-new fifth-generation sporty WRX and WRX Wagon, as well as the stunning GT Edition of Subaru’s well-loved Forester e-Boxer Hybrid. Also, making its first ASEAN debut, Subaru’s first EV – the Go-Anywhere SUV, Solterra will be unveiled! So, get ready to ignite your senses with what the Subaru brand has to offer,” Tan Chong International Limited Deputy Chairman and Managing Director Glenn Tan stated.

The Subaru Solterra gives the electric vehicle segment off-road capabilities with All-Wheel Drive and X-Mode.

The much awaited Subaru Solterra incorporates superior off-road DNA and the highest ground clearance in an EV in addition to its all-electric power technology and Subaru genetic code. The Subaru Solterra is a versatile all-electric SUV with exceptional capabilities, great handling performance and off-road driving experience, regardless of weather and road conditions.

The e-Subaru Global Platform, which was created specifically for Subaru electric vehicles, serves as the foundation for Subaru Solterra. With a flat-shaped battery on this platform, the vehicle has a low center of gravity and a highly rigid body. Two independent eAxle permanent-magnet synchronous motors, one on each axle, power the Subaru Solterra's electric drivetrain and produce a maximum output of 215hp and a maximum torque of 34.4kgm. To accommodate the preferences of each driver, the system also incorporates Paddle Switches and S-Pedal Drive mode for dynamic regeneration of braking energy. The Subaru Solterra's battery modules have a maximum driving range of 414km and can store 71.4 kWh of gross energy.

The Subaru Solterra comes equipped with a range of advanced safety features, including Level 2 ADAS of Autonomous Vehicle Safety Technology, Advanced Park, and Road Sign Assist systems, among others.

Subaru's new “Bolder” design concept and “Dynamic x Solid” design elements are applied to the exterior of the Subaru Solterra. The Subaru Solterra is characterized as a stylish outdoor sports SUV by the Subaru hexagonal grille, sophisticated sequential LED headlamps, 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels, and a dynamic rear spoiler. The Subaru Solterra's elegant design, aerodynamic performance, and improved forward visibility are all aided by the low hood line. Better driving stability and cruising range performance are provided by the overall exterior design and aerodynamic concept.

The Subaru Solterra's revolutionary driver-oriented interior layout features a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a seven-inch TFT instrument panel, an electronic rearview mirror,  panoramic sunroof, and plush leather seats.

The Subaru Forester e-Boxer Hybrid and its sportiest flagship model, the new Forester GT Edition, are also featured at this year's Singapore Motorshow.

The Subaru Forester GT Edition (available for 2.0i-L EyeSight and e-Boxer 2.0i-S EyeSight Hybrid), which was launched in the event, features an even more dynamic look with its unique  GT kit, which incorporates superior aerodynamic performance from the front, rear lip extensions, side skirts, and roof spoiler. The Subaru Forester GT Edition's interior features diamond-quilted designer leather seats modeled after grand tourers from Europe. The seats have the GT Edition emblem imprinted on them at the sides, further increasing their exclusivity.

The fifth-generation Subaru Forester e-Boxer Hybrid is loaded with over 100 safety features, has excellent driving dynamics, and preserves Subaru's DNA. It also comes with Subaru's most advanced driver assistance safety system to date.

The self-charging, mild hybrid e-Boxer system combines two of Subaru's key innovations, the Boxer Engine and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, with battery-powered electric motor assistance. The Subaru Forester now provides smoother, more responsive acceleration, better off-road performance, and improved efficiency, thanks to e-Boxer.

This e-Boxer Hybrid Forester is powered by Subaru's exclusive e-Boxer engine, which includes an electric motor and high-voltage battery combined with Subaru's petrol Boxer engine.

The system is designed to be efficient and is capable of automatically switching between the three driving modes: EV (pure electric), Engine (petrol engine only), and Motor Assist (electric motor and petrol engine combined).

To save fuel, the petrol engine shuts off when idling. The electric motor allows the vehicle to continue moving forward slowly in EV mode when the brake pedal is released. The e-Boxer Hybrid system produces a combined torque output of 194Nm and a very efficient combined fuel consumption of 6.9L/100km.
