This Peugeot 3008 concept wants to be an off-road pro

MANILA: We have probably said this a 100 time already that the love for SUVs and crossovers is on a rapid rise. So much so that automakers have already started to do away their existing hatchback and sedan models. All in favour of SUVs and hatchbacks. In addition to the love for the SUVs and crossovers, the population has also developed an affection for vehicles dedicated to off-road adventures.

And, to cater to the needs of the same, automobile manufacturers from around the world have started rolling out unique off-road dedicated models of their existing SUVs and crossovers.

The newest entrant to the fleet is the Peugeot 3008 SUV. While the off-road pro here is a one-off model, this is a clear indication of what's cooking inside. Also, there are brownie points for showing off this kind of models. This wanna-be an off-road pro is based on the 1.6-litre GT Line and features a front-wheel-drive setup, which is not the preferred option while taking on the trails.

Providing the SUV with an off-road flair are a front skid plate that protects the underbody elements, 17-inch steel wheels, and a set of Cooper AT3 off-road tyres. Then we have an LED light bar on the roof for enhanced illumination in the dark. As you can see in the pictures, this Peugeot 3008 also carries a fully retractable ARB Simpson roof tent that makes camping much convenient.

The rear end of the SUV features a bicycle rack that can be used to carry a Peugeot trail bike. While the SUV doesn't have a rear-wheel-drive system, the five different drive modes do their job of regulating the power and traction on the front wheels quite efficiently.

Peugeot took this off-road dedicated 3008 SUV to the northern part of the iconic Ho Chi Minh trail in Vietnam and the SUV performed better than many would have anticipated. So, who all are in for an off-road edition of the Peugeot 3008?
