Toyota Camry facelift to be revealed at Detroit Auto Show 2017
MANILA: After Honda Accord’s new innings, it is time for its key rival to raise the standards to spice up the competition. Yes, Toyota is gearing up to introduce the Camry facelift at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show 2017. The current version of Toyota Camry was introduced in 2011 and since then no major updates were done to this executive sedan. But, now the company has released the official teaser image of the Camry, which highlights the taillight cluster of the sedan.
The XSE badge suggests that the sedan will be a blend of sportiness and luxury. The sporty character is further evident from the boot lid spoiler, dark black shark fin antenna and a prominent shoulder line. However, this will be the American spec model and a more convenient version will be introduced in our market, as usual.
Earlier spy shots of the sedan revealed the front, featuring sleek headlights with quite a complex floating grille and large open intakes. So, the front and rear go along and makes Camry a much more aggressive and sportier sedan, changing its image of executive class. The 2018 Camry is expected to be based on the Toyota’s new modular TNGA platform and might be offered with either a 2.5-litre four cylinder for the base and a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine for higher variants.
As hybrid avatar is playing a crucial role for most of the automakers, Toyota will not leave out on this front and will continue to offer a hybrid version as well. For the Philippines, the launch is not confirmed yet but, after Toyota Yaris L sedan and Vios hatch, Camry will be the next awaited car from the brand.
