Toyota endorses 2nd ELV dismantling facility for insured vehicles

MANILA: Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) officially endorsed Standard Insurance Company’s End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) dismantling facility in Naic, Cavite.

In a statement, the company shared that the establishment is the second model in the Philippines included in the “Toyota Global 100 Dismantlers Project.” It is also the fifth of such in the Southeast Asian region.

To note, the Toyota Global 100 Dismantlers Project is a wide-reaching initiative that aims to build proper ELV dismantling operations in strategic locations around the world.

Through this system, Toyota wants to address key environmental challenges like pollution and resource depletion by promoting responsible disposal and recycling practices — minimizing environmental impact by safely managing hazardous materials and maximizing resource recovery for reintroduction in the manufacturing cycle.

The Standard Insurance ELV dismantling structure spans approximately 8,840 square meters. It primarily handles vehicles insured under its portfolio and has an average of processing 850 vehicles annually. 

“We are very grateful to Standard Insurance for its voluntary resolve, making Toyota customers also feel assured with a proper place for ELVs to go,” TMP president Masando Hashimoto was quoted as saying.

“Our collective efforts are a clear testament to our long-term commitment to carbon neutrality and ‘Establishing a Recycling-based Society and Systems’ under the global Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050,” he added.

A TMP partner since 2021 in the “Toyota Insure” program since 2021, Standard Insurance followed En Tsumugi ELV Dismantler Corporation, which was the first vehicle dismantling facility in Mexico, Pampanga endorsed by Toyota in September 2024.
