Toyota Gazoo Racing North America gears up for 2022 racing season

MANILA: Starting this 2022 racing season, Toyota NHRA, Formula Drift, and GT4 drivers will compete under Toyota Gazoo Racing North America (TGRNA), the North American arm of Toyota’s global motorsports division.

In a statement, Toyota Motor North America Motorsports and Assets Group Manager Paul Doleshal said, “The opportunity to introduce TGR North America to the NHRA community in 2022 and continue the support in Formula Drift and GT4 competition is a big moment for everyone involved in Toyota’s overall motorsports program. The ability to showcase the GR family of vehicles on the race track and ultimately be a part of applying racing performance to production vehicles is something that we all strive for through motorsports. Showcasing the capability of our race enthusiast engineers to our new and existing fan base of enthusiasts is the overarching goal of the program.”

Because of TGR’s focus on racing, Toyota’s engineering teams are able to push their vehicles to their limits on the track, resulting in better engineers and even better vehicles. TGRNA will concentrate in supplying performance sports cars to customers in the US, designed by enthusiasts for enthusiasts, and aims to deliver thrill and excitement to car and motorsport aficionados.

The NHRA drivers participating in the Funny Car class will give the public their first look at the new GR Supra body at the season opener in California. The drivers in the Top Fuel category will also sport TGRNA colors for all 22 NHRA national events.

Toyota’s Formula Drift drivers will race in the GR Supra as well as the GR6 for the 2022 season, while the GT4 drivers in IMSA and SRO will race in the GR Supra GT4. Toyota’s commitment to produce exciting, race-inspired vehicles is symbolized by the GR badge on all of these models. The GR badge is only given to cars that can withstand the arduous paces of development and track performance.

These racing series are the best places for TGRNA to enter North American motorsports since they are home to some of the most rigorous forms of motorsports, as well as the most enthusiastic spectators and participants.

The NHRA season will kick off on February 20 at Auto Club Raceway in California. The GT4 will compete in the IMSA schedule on January 29 at Daytona International Speedway and in SRO competition on February 25 in Florida, while Formula Drift will begin their season on April 2 in Long Beach, California.
