What concept cars did Toyota show off at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed (FOS)?
The concept cars Toyota showcased at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed are the GT Concept and the GT Racing Concept. What is the Toyota GT Racing Concept developed for?
According to Toyota, the GT Racing Concept is being developed for FIA-sanctioned GT3 races.Almost nothing is known about the two rides and despite their first-ever public appearance, Toyota has yet to reveal their mechanical specifications or even their interiors. However, a video posted by the event’s official social media channels has shown the two cars making a relaxed run of the famous Goodwood hill climb course.
From the video, which can be viewed here, the concept cars, wrapped in the usual grey and white camouflage pattern, emit a deep and sonorous sound as they make their run. Again, no specifications were provided by Toyota for the two cars, but many, including Zigwheels Philippines, are speculating that they are powered by something much more potent than a four-cylinder engine.
Moreover, the GT Racing Concept, in particular, sounds like it was equipped with a high-performance exhaust system. The GT Concept, on the other hand, features dual hood vents reminiscent of the now legendary V10-powered Lexus LFA. Both also feature a very low-slung two-door body style, complemented with plenty of sharp and angular design details.
As posted by numerous official Toyota Instagram pages, it was also hinted that the GT Concept—the one without the wing —will form the basis of the production road car. The one with the massive wing, meanwhile, is being prepared to compete in FIA-sanctioned Group GT3 races.
Here are some examples of other models from other brands already competing in several GT3-spec championships around the world:
With the aforementioned perspective, we can also hazard a guess that the Toyota GT Concept will likewise step up as the Japanese brand’s new flagship sports car once its production version is officially launched.
To further make the appearance of the two concept cars more festive, Toyota also allowed Esteban Ocon and Ollie Bearman - the drivers of the Formula One MoneyGram Haas Team- to “get behind the wheel” of the two concepts. The aforementioned is, of course, quite fitting, as Haas will be returning to Formula One alongside Toyota’s Gazoo Racing department.
Prior to the Haas Team Formula One drivers, the two concepts were taken up the track by GT500 champion Kazuki Nakajima and GT300 champion Tatsuya Kataoka.
