Toyota Motor PH spruces up Corolla Cross GR-S

MANILA: Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has updated the Corolla Cross GR-S — now sporting a more mature look than its previous iteration.

But aside from its updated looks, what made it more enticing to buyers is that the crossover got only a P9,00 bump — keeping the vehicle’s pricing at sub P2 million. 

Here’s what customer can get with the refreshed Toyota Corolla Cross GR-S.

Vehicle updates

The most noticeable change is that the Corolla Cross’ top-spec variant has is the upgraded fascia. Compared to the previous version, its front grille no longer sports that thick horizontal bar in the middle and a GR badge nestled near the company emblem. 

Aside from that, the gunmetal-colored garnishes at the fore and rear feature vertical slats that replaced cube chunks. The door and rocker moldings at the side have also been updated.

Despite the reduction of its bulky portions, the new model’s length grew by five millimeters (mm), as it now measures: 

-          Overall length (in mm): 4,460Overall width (in mm): 1,825Overall height (in mm): 1,620Further, the “Corolla Cross” is blacked out, which puts emphasis  on its athletic nature.

Inside, the model is outfitted with red seatbelts that put it at par with the other GR-S models and that GR-S logos at the headrest are embroidered with appropriate tones (instead of being embossed).

Meanwhile, the following features in the cabin were retained:

-          Floating infotainment system

-          Multi-function steering wheel

-          Red stitching in the seats and dashboard

-          Digital instrument cluster

Additionally, the new Toyota Corolla Cross GR-S kept the 2ZR-FXE engine (inline four, 16 valve, double overhead cam,  chain drive, 1.8-liter gasoline-fed mill with Variable Valve Timing with intelligence and hybrid technology. This powertrain can deliver churns of up to:

Maximum output (in horsepower)	96.6
Peak torque (in Newton-meters)	142

Further, the GR-S specific wheels (18-inch alloys wrapped in 225/50 road tires) and suspension system (Macpherson Struts for the front and Torsion beam at the back) were also retained, giving a familiar driving experience.

Available in two-tone paint options, the new Toyota Corolla Cross GR-S can be had at the following price points:
