Toyota to reveal new Hilux on Nov. 10

MANILA: Fresh from showcasing its barrage of offerings at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, Toyota will reveal the latest iteration of the Hilux.

The announcement was made on Toyota Motor Thailand’s official Facebook page, saying that the official reveal is set on November 10.

“Meet The World's First New Hilux Counting down... Let's hit a new path together,” the Japanese automaker’s arm at the Land of Smiles said in a social media post last November 1.

The teaser came after Toyota Motor Corporation filed a filed a trademark for the name Hilux Travo late last year. Speculations about it grew after a posting over Instagram (and several news sites) surfaced, showing a sketch of a pick-up truck that is said to be the nameplate’s forthcoming version.

While the company has yet to share details about the vehicle, here are some bits of information about the new Hilux based on the teaser posted.

Vehicle details

As seen in the video, the pick-up truck’s newest adaptation features an updated design complemented by the C-shaped head- and tail lamps, as well as prominent bulges on the hood.

Compared to the currently-retailed version, the 2026 Toyota Hilux also has a sport bar, and gloss black wheels — which means that the highlighted vehicle could be the nameplate’s GR-S option.

Zigwheels Philippines is looking forward to seeing a Toyota Hilux in battery electric-powered version, which was first seen in Thailand as early as 2022. The said development was already being tested in Australia as of November 2024.

Although Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has yet to confirm, there is that strong possibility that the 2026 Hilux will arrive in the country — with the earliest date probably early next year.

Toyota Hilux in PH

The Philippine-retailed Toyota Hilux has been around since 2020 — with minor tweaks incorporated in between:

• 2021: launch of Hilux GR-S
• 2022: integration of Local Data Communication Module
• 2023: Mild update

Powering the current-generation product is either a 2.4- or 2.8-liter turbocharged diesel powertrain mated to a manual or automatic gearbox (both in six-speed configurations).

The drivetrain’s churns are as follows:

Further, the model’s current top-of-the-line variation is fitted with matte, black-colored wide GR-S overfenders and sports bar.

Among the technologies that can be found in the Hilux in the country are those under the Toyota Safety Sense such as:

• Pre-collision system
• Lane departure alert
• Dynamic radar cruise control

Aside from that it also has an anti-lock braking system with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution, vehicle stability control, hill start assist and downhill assist control, as well as clearance and back sonars.
