MANILA: VinFast has partnered up with Israeli artificial intelligence (AI) company Autobrains for the research and development of enhanced L2++ autonomous driving technologies.

Autobrains is an Israel-based company that specializes in artificial intelligence-powered automotive technologies.According to the Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, this strategic partnership will result in AI-driven products installed in its future lineup of EV passenger cars. It will be called the “Robo-Car” system, and instead of pricey LiDAR systems and high-definition maps, it will utilize a series of cameras paired with a powerful computing chip touted to be capable of processing 20 trillion operations per second.
On this note, the upcoming VinFast Robo-Car system is similar in vein to Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) system. In VinFast’s case, the partnership will also enable the company to maintain a lineup of affordable rides while enhancing safer and smarter mobility experiences for its customers from a variety of markets worldwide.

While the VinFast V8 is yet to be sold locally, the VF 9 is already sold in the Philippine market with a price ranging from P3.8 million-P5.39 million.
The production version of the VF 9 doesn’t have self-driving yet, but the Philippine-spec model has a wide array of advanced driver assist systems, which include, but are not limited to:

The interior of the VinFast VF 9, meanwhile, features a seven- or six-seater layout with leather upholstery, captain seats, power-adjustable front and second-row seats, an ambient lighting system, a triple-zone automatic climate control system, an air ionizer, and a power tailgate.

It has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, over-the-air updates, a 13-piece speaker set, USB ports, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and many other tech features.
The VinFast VF 9 is propelled by a dual-motor setup that’s capable of putting out 402 horsepower and 620 Newton-meters of torque. It also has a range of 602 kilometers, according to the Worldwide Harmonised Light-Duty Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP). Topping up the model via its direct current feature can increase its state of charge (SOC) from 10-70 percent in just 35 minutes.
