Will Toyota launch a new Hilux soon?

MANILA: Toyota could be conducting the global launch for the latest version of the Hilux before the year ends.

This as reports claimed that the pick-up truck’s newest iteration might be revealed in Thailand next month.

Also, based on a posting over Instagram (and several news sites), the vehicle sports a redesigned front and rear fascia, thanks to possible sharper combination lamps, a more contemporary-looking grille, and chiseled tail lights.

Such news came after Toyota Motor Corporation filed a filed a trademark for the name Hilux Travo late last year. As of September 9, the application has yet to be registered as the aforementioned name needs corrections before the Department of Intellectual Property.

At the time of publishing, TMC still has yet to confirm its possible launch.

Hilux in PH

In the Philippines, the present Toyota Hilux has been around for quite a while already.

This version — which was introduced locally back in 2020 — wears a bold and chunky fascia, which is totally different from the (allegedly) soon-to-be-unveiled version in the Land of Smiles.

Retailed in eight options, the pick-up truck’s existing version in the Philippines carries price tags varying from P1.582 million all the way to P2.46 million.

Depending on the trim, the Toyota Hilux is powered by either a 2.4- or 2.8-liter turbocharged diesel engine mated to a six-speed slushbox (which could be had in manual or automatic kinds).

These mills can deliver the following numbers:

Among the notable technologies that can be found in the current-generation Toyota Hilux locally are:

• Rear cross traffic alert
• Dual front, side, curtain, and knee airbags
• Anti-lock braking system with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution
• Vehicle stability control
• Hill-start assist control
• Panoramic View Monitor
• Clearance and Back Sonar (two at the front, four for the rear)
