Zigwheels weekly wrap: Feb. 16-20

MANILA: Last week was defined by several launches in both the auto and moto sectors of the Philippine mobility industry. Likewise, some models have been refreshed to better serve the needs of their evolving customers. 

Finally, we check out some milestones posted by local players. 

Local model launches 

BMW X1 xDrive25e M Sport 

BMW Philippines — through SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation — has rolled out the X1 xDrive25e M Sport, expanding its electrified lineup. 

Enthusiasts will delight in its hybrid powertrain that makes 2445 horses with 477 Newton-meters. With a full tank and aaa fully-powered energy bank, it can go as far as 764 kilometers. 

Nissan Patrol TT AT 4X4 

Nissan Philippines also bolstered its Patrol roster with the addition of the TT AT 4X4 variant. 

Following the apparent trend of scrapping upmarket features to lower the price of the model, the said grade level loses the rear seat entertainment system and takes on a simpler interior configuration. 

It costs P50,000 lower.

Updated Suzuki Jimny 

Suzuki Philippines Incorporated has updated the three-door variant of the Jimny. 

It now gets a larger nine-inch infotainment system and an updated colored display in the information gauge cluster — in lieu of the red-orange instrument graphics. 

Notably, it also gets an upgrade in safety with the addition of the Dual Sensor Brake Support II, which uses a monocular camera and millimeter-wave radar to detect vehicles and pedestrians ahead. 

Other safety tech it now has includes lane departure prevention and warning, weaving alert, and high-beam assist. 

Royal Enfield Himalayan Black Edition 

Royal Enfield has launched the Himalayan Black Edition in the Philippines. 

Despite no upgrades in its mechanical system, it gets a boost in aesthetics with an exclusive body color. Several appointments also highlight its rugged spirit. 

Yamaha Lexi 

Yamaha Motor Philippines appears to reinforce its foothold in the small-displacement segment after launching the Lexi. 

Touted as a motorcycle that will bridge the gap between 125 and 155 cubic-centimeter (cc) scooters, it packs a capable powertrain that is paired with a continuously variable transmission. 

The new motorcycle retails for under P100,000, making it a very accessible Japanese 155 cc model. 

Other news 

In other news, Great Wall Motor (GWM) Philippines has brought the Haval H9 to Mindanao. This means that the sport utility vehicle (SUV) is now made more accessible to nearby regions. 

Moreover, Chevron, the marketer of Caltex fuels, has enjoyed steady growth in 2025. 

Finally, Ford Motor Company Philippines reported that the Everest Titanium+ 4x4 and Mustang have respectively dominated the local 4x4 midsize SUV and sports car segments.
