Zigwheels PH weekly wrap: January 19-23

MANILA: The fourth week of January 2026 saw plenty of developments. The motorcycle industry had some significant launches both locally and globally, and a new luxury brand entered the Philippine market. 

One of the biggest car shows in the local scene likewise received a go signal, while another brand-centric event is ready to kick off at Clark International Speedway next month. 

Obviously, a lot has happened from January 19-23, so without further ado, here’s Zigwheels Philippines’ news wrap.

Local vehicle launches

Honda ADV160 update

In the fourth week of January 2026, Honda Philippines Incorporated launched the refreshed version of the ADV160. The model received additional technologies and aerodynamic improvements. 

Price-wise, the refreshed AVD160 starts at P167,400 for the entry-level ABS-type, and retails at P174,900 for the top-spec RoadSync-type.

Triumph Scrambler 400 XC

In the same week, Triumph Philippines, under the distributorship of the Autohub Group, introduced the all-new Scrambler 400 XC.

The Triumph Scrambler 400 XC is a more hard-core, off-road-oriented version of the Scrambler 400 X. It has more underbody protection, more adjustability, as well as taller ground clearance. 

At launch, the Triumph Scrambler 400 XC retails at P404,000.

Denza brand launch

Denza has officially launched in the Philippines with four dealerships. Two operate under ACMobility Premium Dealership, one is under Harmony New Energy Auto Service Limited Corporation, and another is under E-Vantage Motors Incorporated.

For now, Denza has not disclosed its initial vehicle lineup, but it will likely consist of the D9, B5, and B8.

Upcoming local cars

VinFast Limo Green

VinFast regional Chief Executive Officer Antonio Zara confirmed that the local market will see the introduction of the Limo Green, an all-electric people carrier. No pricing details or localized specs for the upcoming nameplate were shared for now, but some of its details were already listed by the Land Transportation Office.

GWM Haval H9

Great Wall Motor (GWM) Philippines, under the management of Luxuriant Automotive Group Incorporated (LAGI), has announced that the Haval H9 will be entering the local market on February 4, 2026. 

As of this writing, the local specs for the GWM Haval H9 are already listed on the brand’s official Philippine website, and one can also place a pre-order for the model for a reservation fee of P5,000.

Global vehicle launches

Harley-Davidson 2026 bikes

In the global market, Harley-Davidson unveiled its 2026 lineup. The American manufacturer’s bikes for the new year are mostly updates of the American Touring, Trike, Enthusiast Collection, and Custom Vehicle Operation (CVO) model series.

Toyota GR Yaris Sébastien Ogier 9x World Champion Edition

Toyota Motor Corporation has debuted the GR Yaris Sébastien Ogier 9x World Champion Edition. Currently, the model is in prototype stage, and once development is complete, only 200 units will be produced. Japan will get 100 units, while another 100 examples will go to Europe. 

In a nutshell, the Toyota GR Yaris Sébastien Ogier 9x World Champion Edition comes with additional components inspired by Sébastien Ogier, a nine-time World Rally Championship (WRC) title holder.

Global industry updates

In the fourth week of January 2026, Grab announced its partnership with GAC Motor. Under the said agreement, Grab will be able to deploy a fleet of electric vehicles across Southeast Asia. The initial batch will be 20,000 units made out of Aion Y, V, and ES units. 

The Oracle Red Bull Racing Formula One team has unveiled the liveries for both Red Bull and Racing Bulls. The new colors for both cars feature plenty of blue sections, reflecting Oracle Red Bull’s new powertrain partnership with Ford. 

India’s Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP) has bestowed a five-star safety rating for the VF 6 and VF 7. Notably, the VF 6 received a score of 27.13 in adult occupant protection, while the VF 7 achieved a score of 28.54 in the same category. 

In the same week, the Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY) panel has awarded the title of “World’s Best Large SUV for 2026” to the Hyundai Ioniq 9. 

Local industry updates

Amid the President’s veto of the budget for the Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy (CARS) Program, the government presented a proposal to help the initiative get back on its feet. Later, Mitsubishi’s local arm expressed gratitude to the government for securing funding for CARS. 

On January 20, 2025, the management of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) has imposed a toll hike. As of the said date, class 1 cars travelling the full length of NLEX will have to pay P24 more compared to the previous toll matrix. 

Ford Philippines conducted a corporate social responsibility activity last December 2025. It involved donating 100 grocery packs to families living in Gawad Kalinga Alapan. 

VinFast Philippines has delivered a total of 500 VF e34 units to Xentro Motors. The aforementioned is the result of a partnership established between the two entities last year. 

Green GSM has also deployed the “Secure-to-Safe (S2S) system for its entire fleet. This is touted to provide security for the company’s drivers, as well as its passengers. 

In the fourth week of January 2026, Trimotors Technology Corporation (TTC), announced that it has secured the distributorship of KTM and Husqvarna for the local market. The company has added the two brands to its roster alongside Bajaj and Chetak. 

The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Incorporated (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) shared the retail performance of the local industry for 2025. Last year, 491,395 units were sold in the Philippines, representing a growth of 3.7 percent. 

Worldbex Services International (WSI) is set to kick off the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) 2026 this coming April 9-10. Like before, it will be held at the World Trade Center Manila. 

Ford Philippines has re-issued a recall for several 2000s and 2010s-era versions of the Everest, Ranger, and Mustang. The aforementioned stems from defective Takata airbag inflators. 

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has expressed its sincere gratitude to the Philippine government for securing funding for the Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy (CARS) Program. The CARS program's budget was previously vetoed by the President. 

BYD Cars Philippines has shared that it has sold 26,122 units for 2026. The aforementioned is a 446-percent year-on-year increase for the company. 

In the fourth week of January 2026, it was announced that the Nissan Festival will be kicking off at the Clark International Speedway this coming February 2026. 

Toyota Motor Philippines also held the Cebu leg of the next-gen Toyota Tamaraw Roadshow with Coco Martin. It coincided with the much-awaited Sinulog Festival there.
