Honda BeAT: Old vs. new

The Honda BeAT scooter has gained immense popularity in the Philippines for its stylish design, fuel efficiency, and reliable performance. As a prominent player in the local scooter market, Honda has continuously updated and improved the BeAT model over the years to cater to the evolving needs and preferences of Filipino riders.

Just recently, Honda Philippines Incorporated launched the newest iteration of the BeAT, with upgrades in design and new features.

Let’s take a look at these upgrades and see how much better the all-new Honda BeAT is versus its previous generation model.

Performance

The new Honda BeAT is powered by a 110 cubic-centimeter engine with enhanced smart power (ESP) technology. The powertrain produces 8.9 horsepower (hp) and 9.3 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.

On the other hand, the old model’s engine also comes with ESP technology, however, it produces slightly lesser output — 8.6hp and 921Nm of pulling power.

When it comes to fuel efficiency, both the old and new Honda BeAT models are known for their economical nature. However, the old model takes efficiency a step further, as it has an amazing 63.7-kilometers-per-liter (kpl) fuel consumption versus the new model’s 58.2kpl fuel economy rating. The old model was even hailed as the “Most Fuel-Efficient Scooter” at the Rider’s Choice Awards in 2022.

Design and styling

The old and new Honda BeAT models also have some differences in their design. While the old model might sport a more classic look, the new model embraces a modern and sleek design. So, if you are looking for a head-turning ride, the new Honda BeAT might be your cup of tea.

The new BeAT comes with an LED headlight, which ensures better visibility and illumination on the road. It also has a higher seat height of 742 millimeters (mm) versus the 740mm of the old model, and a higher ground clearance of 147mm compared to the 146mm of its predecessor. The new Honda BeAT is also equipped with a larger luggage box capacity, which is now 12 liters.

Tech features and innovations

While the old Honda BeAT may not boast the latest high-tech features, it still offers practical innovations that enhance the riding experience. Features such as a semi-digital instrument panel and front disc brake contribute to the convenience and safety of the rider. While it may lack some of the more advanced features found in newer models, the old Honda BeAT does not compromise on basic functionality.

Meanwhile, the new BeAT guarantees convenient riding as it comes with a side stand switch, secured key shutter with integrated seat opener, and ACC power socket.

Pricing and affordability

The pricing for the old Honda BeAT ranged from P69,900 to P72,900.

The new model is priced higher — from P71,400 to P74,400 — however, this is justifiable as it offers improved features and performance.
