2019 Yamaha YZF-R3 launched in the Philippines

MANILA: The 2019 Yamaha YZF-R3 is here and has been one of the main attractions at the ‘Start Your Legacy: Rise of the Ultimate Racer’. And yes, the show bike had Viñales, the rider from Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team, sitting on it.

The new Yamaha YZF-R3 features a host of upgrades and sharper handling as well. The riding ergonomics are sportier now, thanks to the low clip-on handlebars (lowered by 22 mm). Plus, the fuel tank is 31.4 mm wider and 20 mm lower than the outgone version. The fairing has been inspired by the ZR-M1 MotoGP racing motorcycle. The tall windscreen continues to offer excellent protection from wind-blasting at top speeds, besides improving the aerodynamics.

The 2019 YZF-R3 has 37 mm inverted KYB forks, and the rear suspension is tuned to be stiffer offering sportier characteristics. The wheels are wrapped in Dunlop Sportmax GPR300 tyres. The design changes enable the new R3 to be more in line with the R-series motorcycles. The headlights get a full LED treatment while the instrument display is an all-digital LCD unit.

Though the exterior showcases quite a lot of revisions, the mechanical part has been kept the same. The 2019 iteration of the Yamaha YZF-R3 continues to be powered by the same 321 cc, 2-cylinder engine that can churn out 41.4 hp of power at 10,750 rpm while producing peak torque of 29.6 Nm at 9,000 rpm. A 6-speed gearbox sends the power to the ground.

Yamaha Philippines offers the bike in three color options - Race Blu, Matte Red, and Black Raven. The Yamaha YZF-R3 price tag reads Php 259,000.
