In 6 pictures: Suzuki PH launches all-new GN160

MANILA: Suzuki Philippines Incorporated (SPH) has expanded its offering of neo-retro motorcycles with the introduction of the all-new GN160. 

The said motorcycle nameplate is a backbone model that is the follow-up to the GN125, which was sold in other parts of the world from 1985 to 2001. 

Fast forward to the present, and the newly introduced GN160 is one of the more affordable Japanese-branded neo-retro bikes on the market right now. Let’s see what it is offering to would-be adopters.

Suzuki GN160: specs, features

Propelling the all-new GN160 is a four-stroke, two-valve, single overhead cam (SOHC), 162-cubic-centimeter (cc) engine that’s capable of producing up to 14 horsepower and 14.5 Newton-meters of torque. 

Notably, the said engine is an air-cooled unit with fuel injection. It also has an electric starting system and a transistorized ignition system. Its transmission, meanwhile, is a five-speed manual.

Ensuring ride quality and handling for the Suzuki GN160 is a front telescopic oil-damped front fork and an oil-damped swingarm with dual adjustable shocks for the rear. It likewise uses an 80/100-18 47P front tire and a 90/90-18 51P rear tire. 

Stopping power for the model comes from a single front disc brake and rear drum brakes. For added safety, the motorcycle was fitted with anti-lock braking (ABS). 

Size-wise, the model is 2,005 millimeters (mm) long, 770 mm wide, and 1,090 mm in height. It has a wheelbase length of 1,280 mm, a ground clearance of 178 mm, and a seat height of 760 mm. The model tips the scales at 128 kilograms. 

Other notable features of the Suzuki GN160 include, but are not limited to: 

• LED lighting
• Semi-digital gauge cluster
• 11-liter fuel tank
• Single-level long seat in suede and leather
• Upright handlebar

Pricing for the all-new Suzuki GN160 is set at P125,000. Its available color options include Pearlescent Black and Metallic Matte Concrete Gray. Each purchase of the GN160 comes with a 30,000-kilometer or three-year warranty, whichever comes first.
