MANILA: TVS Motor Philippines might launch the iQube 2.2 all-electric two-wheeler soon. Notably, this is a variant of the standard locally available iQube S, but with a smaller battery.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What is the range of the upcoming TVS iQube 2.2?

According to the LTO, the TVS iQube 2.2 can travel up to 75 kilometers from a single full charge.
  • What kind of motorcycle is the upcoming TVS iQube 2.2?

The TVS iQube 2.2 is an all-electric scooter.
  • The aforementioned was brought to light by a new memorandum circular that was published by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) on its website.

As of this publishing, however, TVS’s local distributor has made no announcements as to when this ride will officially enter the market. Additionally, the brand's local arm has yet to disclose a complete list of features and specifications for the model.

It was stated by the LTO memorandum (MVL-2026-5020), however, that the iQube 2.2 qualifies for incentives afforded to electric vehicles (EV) as stated on the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA)

On the one hand, the model has been classified by the LTO under the L3 category. So, with consideration for safety, it is prohibited from running on toll roads/expressways

So what do we know about the TVS iQube 2.2? Here are some details from the LTO, as well as some specifications from TVS’ global website.

    TVS iQube 2.2: specs

According to the memorandum published by the LTO, the TVS iQube 2.2 uses a lithium-ion battery and an electric motor that can produce up to 6.35 horsepower. With that kind of maximum output, the iQube 2.2 can reach speeds of up to 75 kilometers per hour. It can also cover a range of 75 kilometers (km) from a single full charge.

Notably, the LTO document also indicates a “charging time” of 3 hours and a net weight capacity of 140 kilograms (kg). It also has 12-inch wheels wrapped in 90/90 tires for both the front and rear.

    Range

    75 km

As mentioned above, the TVS iQube S is already sold locally with a price of P155,000. It has a 3.4-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery, which provides a range of 100 kilometers (km).

The upcoming TVS iQube 2.2, as its name suggests, uses a smaller 2.2 kWh battery, which explains the shorter range.

On the one hand, we can expect the upcoming TVS iQube 2.2 to have the same styling cues as its more powerful sibling. We can likewise hope to see it carry over several amenities, such as a seven-inch digital gauge cluster, a 32-liter underseat storage bin, LED lighting fixtures, and a portable charger.

Again, no other details for the upcoming TVS iQube 2.2 were shared, but we reckon that it will come at a more affordable price point than the one already available in the local market.
