Yamaha Monumento gets dressed up to highlight Mio Gravis’ road safety push

MANILA: Yamaha Motor Philippines (YMPH) dressed up the LRT (Light Rail Transit) Monumento Station to remind the public that road safety is a shared responsibility.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • For how long will the Yamaha Monumento carry the Mio Gravis' road safety campaign?

Yamaha Monumento's anti-kamote campaign will be up until November 21, 2025.
  • Why did Yamaha Motor Philippines dressed up the Monumento station?

The visuals are designed spark conversations and raise awareness among the commuters, while also making them allies in promoting road safety.
  • The Sensible Station unveiling was held last October 30.

For the latest initiative, the Yamaha Monumento Station has been redesigned with thought provoking messages and notable safety reminders.

    Other stories:

Per the Japanese motorcycle brand’s arm, the dress up is eyed to spark conversations and raise awareness among the commuters, while also making them allies in promoting road safety.

These visuals call out the reckless commuters on the train similar to the behavior of “kamote” riders (Filipino slang for reckless or undisciplined use of two-wheelers) such as:

    • Not following proper train etiquettes by cutting lines
    • Crowding the other passengers’ space
    • Not being mindful of safety trails and signages

Aside from that, mascots dressed as kamotes (sweet potatoes) appeared along both northbound and southbound lanes, holding placards with reminders to not tolerate their behaviors. QR codes placed throughout the station led commuters to an interactive game: The Sensible Meter.

Through the said event, players navigate roads while avoiding kamotes and other hazards. Along the way, they answer safety-related questions, making smart, sensible choices to progress. Participants are rewarded with exclusive freebies, making learning about road safety both fun and impactful.

Per YMPH, the move — which will be up until November 21 — was made hand-in-hand with the company’s numerous efforts to champion a culture of smart and responsible riding through its ongoing safety riding activities, innovative campaigns, and community-driven initiatives.

The firm noted that the latest move expands its reach — fostering road safety awareness both on and off the road, as well as highlighting both Yamaha and Light Rail Manila Corporation’s commitment to driving positive change for the Filipino community.

Further, the said move was designed to push Mio Gravis’ “Sensible Choice campaign” launched last May.

To note, the aforementioned motorcycle is powered by a 125 cubic-centimeter, gasoline-fed engine mated to a continuous variable transmission which, on paper, can deliver:

    Maximum output (in horsepower)

    9.4

    Peak torque (in Newton-meters)

    9.5

Recently, YMPH added two new color options for the two-wheeler: Matte Brown and Dark Gray.
