First drive: Here’s why the Li Mega is the ideal pick for those who wants to be chauffeured

Just recently, Li Auto Philippines staged its first-ever media drive, where it showcased its trifecta of offerings to attending members of the motoring media.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What powers the Li Mega?

The Li Mega is powered by dual electric motors that can dish out approximately 536 hp.
  • How many variants does the Li Mega have?

The Li Mega has two variants, Ultra and Home.
  • Zigwheels Philippines was able to take a ride at the Chinese carmaker’s flagship family multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), dubbed the Li Mega, alongside its stablemates the L7 and L9

Here are our thoughts after being chauffeured from Li Auto Philippines’ dealership in Bonifacio Global City to some scenic spots in Cavite and Batangas.

    Modern, minimalist exterior

At a distance, the Li Mega blends modernity and elegance. Its fore boasts a clean-looking fascia flanked by clusters of light, which the manufacturer calls the “Family-style Star Ring Headlights.” Underneath its larger-than-life windshield is an LED light bar.

To its sides are flush door handles, automatic doors, blacked-out pillars, and a pair of dark-colored side mirrors. It rides on a set of black-gray aerodynamic drag wheels.

Its rear end features a large glass with a similar-looking LED light bar found at the front. Under its automatic tailgate are reflectors, positioned on the far end of its bumpers.

    Curated cabin

Inside the Li Mega is a host of appointments aimed at making one’s journey more convenient and comfortable — whether it’s just for a quick trip to the mall or, in our case, a long drive from the metro down south.

Notable are its leather-wrapped seats. Those occupying the second row will enjoy a spacious captain seat configuration — no need to rub elbows with your fellow passengers. The middle row has fluffy headrests and armrests that are ideal for relieving seat fatigue.

Speaking of which, the second-row seats also have a massage function. The soft pressure the spa-grade 16-point massage chair provides to one’s back and posterior will make you forget the typical comfort offered by lumbar supports. As a result, the writer was able to catch some Zs on the way to our destination.

If one feels a longing for some beverages upon waking, the Li Mega offers a fridge easily within reach of the passengers. Conversely, it can also be used as a food warmer. The captain’s chair on the right side of the MPV has a foldable table, which will help accommodate not only beverages, but also some light snacks.

For those traveling with business in mind, these can also serve as a small table for one’s tablets or laptops. Wireless smartphone chargers can be found on the armrests.

While the aforementioned amenities feel like a handful, these are not the extent of what the Li Mega offers when it comes to wellness on wheels. Below are some of its other notable features:

    • 17-inch OLED flip-down screen for second-row passengers
    • Immersive “Platinum” audio system
    • Panoramic sunroof
    • Built-in shades on windows
    • Ambient lighting
    • Digital air conditioning controls

Here is a quick look at what the first and third-row seating offers:

    Front-row

    Third-row

    • D-shaped leather steering wheel with digital display and multi-functional controls
    • Head-up display
    • Wireless charging pads
    • Beverage holders
    • Spacious storage
    • Dual-screen infotainment system
    • Spacious seating
    • Pull-down armrest
    • Comfortable headrest

    Powertrain, chassis

Propulsion for the Li Mega comes from dual electric motors that can generate up to 536 horsepower with 542 Newton-meters of torque. Its dense battery pack can provide an estimated driving range of up to 710 kilometers on a single charge.

Facilitating deceleration and halts are ventilated front and rear disc brakes. Helping improve passenger comfort is its “Magic Carpet” air suspension with chambered air springs and continuous damping control.

    Variants, pricing

The Li Mega is available in two variants, below are their price tags:

    Li Mega Ultra

    P5.99 million

    Li Mega Home

    P6.499 million
