Not too long ago, Jaecoo Philippines launched the J5 SHS-H.

It offered car buyers a new hybrid crossover that had both the looks and the powertrain to take them from point A to point B with a smaller carbon footprint than the traditional internal combustion engine (ICE)-powered vehicle.

To top things off, it even came with an appealing price tag that is enough to make ICE enthusiasts take a second look.

So, we take a quick look at the three reasons why Filipino motorists should consider driving home the Jaecoo J5 SHS-H.

Bold, modern looks

Compared to many of today’s crossovers that lean towards the sportier side of the design spectrum, the Jaecoo J5 SHS-H offers looks that are classic and bold. 

While others are slapped with plenty of aggressive angles to make the car look like it has attitude, this offering from Jaecoo appears calm and composed with lots of straight lines that provide a stock and staunch demeanor.

Notable are its waterfall front grille and distinct “Mountain Road” lights.

Capable, efficient powertrain

All that placid facade is not for naught. Like its exterior, the powertrain of the Jaecoo J5 SHS-H leans heavily on providing the power needed to go further, but not wasting momentum and fuel. This results in an economic experience without lacking the “oomph.” 

Under the hood is a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline hybrid system that can generate 342 horsepower and 525 Newton-meters.

At a standstill, it takes the crossover exactly 7.9 seconds to reach speeds of 100 kilometers per hour.

Its range is approximately under 1,000 kilometers.

Priced competitively

Another reason to get the Jaecoo J5 SHS-S is its sub-P1 million pricing (P999,000).  

Imagine you get all the perks of getting an electrified ride without spending as much money as those purchasing traditional ICE-powered models.
