Omoda appears to be steadily gaining traction in the local automotive industry despite what seemed to be a tedious start. Not too long ago, its twin marque Jaecoo launched a new model in the form of the J7 SHS, proving that the Chery-owned Chinese car brands are serious about making their mark in the country. 

That said, we wanted to dive into one of Omoda’s initial offering — the C5 crossover. We will be checking its three available variants, to help our readers who might be on the fence about choosing which model to get. 

On that note, here are the Omoda C5’s available trims, to help car buyers find the right one that best suits their budget, style, and motoring needs. 

Lifestyle 

The aptly named Omoda C5 Lifestyle will be a good lifestyle crossover for those searching for a daily driver that won’t break the bank. 

At the fore, it boasts Omoda’s bold Diamond Star grille flanked by a cluster of lights that share the same modern look. Notable too, is the exterior’s aerodynamic fastback bodywork and signature floating roof design. 

The base model, which serves as the foundation for the nameplate’s higher trims, rides on a set of 17-inch wheels that rock 215/60 series tires. 

Inside, it gets seats that are upholstered in a combination of leather and textile material for a comfortable experience, whether the crossover is used for either short or long journeys. 

Tech-wise, the Omoda C5 Lifestyle is packed with two 10.25-inch screens: one is the instrument panel, while the other is the infotainment screen. Despite being an entry-level variant, the latter is already equipped with wireless Apple Carplay and wireless Android Auto connectivity with four speakers. 

For added convenience, would-be owners can also find a wireless charging pad inside the crossover. 

Powering the vehicle is a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine mated to a continuously variable transmission. It makes up to 114 horsepower (hp) with 143 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. Speed peaks at 170 kilometers per hour (kph). 

Supporting the crossover is a MacPherson setup at the front and a torsion beam arrangement at the back. For deceleration and halts, it relies on ventilated disc brakes at the fore and solid disc brakes at the rear.

Comfort 

Building on the specifications of the Omoda C5 Lifestyle, the Comfort trim offers a bump in capabilities, especially in the powertrain division. The model drops the naturally aspirated powerplant in exchange for a turbocharged gasoline-fed mill. Below are its performance figures:

In addition, the crossover’s Comfort trim also has improved top speed, which clocks in at 181 kph. 

The mid-spec model has six speakers, four airbags, and a rear camera. 

Luxury 

The range-topping model offers a suite of upgrades that allow it to earn the “luxury” badge from Omoda. 

The Omoda C5 Luxury rides on a set of 18-inch wheels that give it a sportier look and feel. These are shod in 215/55 radial tires. Further, owners will enjoy ease of loading and unloading cargo via the vehicle’s power tailgate. 

Inside, owners can enjoy riding on ventilated seats to help them cool down even in hot weather. Should some natural lighting be in order, they can simply operate the sunroof for improved visibility in the cabin. 

The seating on the range-topping model uses full leather upholstery — offering an air of comfort and opulence. Further, the infotainment system is now paired with eight Sony-branded speakers. 

For added safety, the top-of-the-line model packs six airbags, a 360-degree high-definition panoramic camera, and a slew of advanced driver assist technologies, which include the following: 

• Adaptive cruise control
• Autonomous emergency braking 

For those wondering just how safe the Omoda C5 is, the crossover has been awarded a five-star rating by the European New Car Assessment Program, cementing its position as a reliable and dependable city car.
