Modern classic: Spec-checking the Mercedes-Benz E 200 AMG Line
Many decades ago, Mercedes-Benz was famous for creating cars that possess peerless class and quality.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What are the new convenience and luxury features of the E 200 AMG Line?
The E 200 AMG Line is equipped with power closing doors, new MBUX-equipped infotainment, ambient lighting, and Burmester Surround Sound, among others. How much is the E 200 AMG Line?
The Mercedes-Benz E 200 AMG Line retails for P5.39 million. More E-Class variants will be introduced, local Mercedes-Benz distributor Auto Nation Group said. The E-Class nameplate — which traces most notably back to the W114 and W123 models — carried those Merc characteristics. The W114 and W123 cars exuded the proper class for the wealthy, while giving these well-heeled buyers a solid cabin and running gear.
These cars' luxury and reliability — not to mention their representation of the luxurious zeitgeist of the 1970s and 1980s — enshrined the E-Class predecessors among automotive icons by many enthusiasts. The cars' timeless styling also played a role in upping their status.

So, the current 10th-generation, W213-iteration E-Class is riding on great expectations. Mercedes-Benz is still gunning for class and quality, but given the sign of the times, the German carmaker needs to add many things to the E-Class qualities.
Among these things is sportiness, which many customers desire. As such, Mercedes-Benz spiced up the E-Class with a sporty AMG Line model. This almost-AMG midsize sedan is even available in the country as the E 200 AMG Line, brought by local Merc distributor Auto Nation Group (ANG).
To highlight its sporty intent, the E 200 AMG Line is adorned with a grille with diamond pins in chrome and inserts in high-gloss black. A pair of redesigned headlamps equipped with LED High Performance headlights lend aggression to the front end.

As part of the AMG Line body kit , the E 200 comes with a set of 19-inch AMG five-twin spoke light alloy wheels painted in Tantalite Gray with a high-sheen finish.
However, those who prefer their E-Class to carry the old-school elegance of Mercedes-Benz cars, ANG said it will cater to these customers soon with more E-Class variants.
The E 200 AMG Line also ticks more relevant boxes in the entertainment and safety technology front.
The new E 200 AMG Line features two 12.3-inch digital displays, one of which is equipped with the latest generation of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system.

For safety, the E 200 AMG Line uses a Pre-Safe System, Attention Assist, Active Brake Assist, and Urban Guard.
The Pre-Safe System tightens the seatbelts before a collision, Attention Assist informs the driver if he or she is tired, and Active Brake Assist applies the brakes when it senses an impending collision. Meanwhile, Urban Guard provides an anti-theft alarm system and tow-away protection.
The E 200 AMG Line's Active Parking Assist comes with advance reversing cameras to provide support to the driver.
If there's anything the E 200 AMG Line is close to its W114 and W123 forefathers, it's inside the cabin. The E 200 AMG Line is made elegant with gray Artico leather seats, silver inlays on the dashboard, while the circular air vents are a throwback to the Mercs of yesteryear.
The E 200 AMG Line's spec sheet will prove further its modern-classic character.
