2017 Toyota Corolla Altis launched in the Philippines

MANILA: After making a global debut in June 2016, the 2017 Toyota Corolla Altis has finally made its way to the Philippines. Yes, the updated Altis has been launched in our country. The C-Segment executive sedan boasts the new “Keen Look” design language of the company along with standard safety equipment to give optimal safety measurements to the occupants.

The 2017 Corolla Altis has a much wider, bolder look and vertical air intakes give it an aggressive touch. The new sleek headlights, accompanied with LED daytime running lights, a new grille with chrome finish, tweaked LED taillights, chrome garnish on the trunk and slightly refreshed rear bumper are other changes of the updated Altis.

Considering the changes done in the cabin, some of the notable changes include new interior color, Flaxen, automatic climate control, touchscreen infotainment system. The 1.6-litre variant gets fabric seats while the top of the line, 2.0-litre V CVT variant is equipped with leather upholstery. It also gets an 8-way power adjust driver seat for added comfort.

There are two engine options which include a 1.6-litre Dual VVT-i unit which delivers 122 PS maximum power and 154 Nm peak torque, while the other is the 2.0-litre Dual VVT-i engine with AICS that delivers 145 PS maximum power with 187 Nm peak torque. The smaller engine unit is coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission whereas, the bigger engine unit gets a continuously variable transmission with a 7-speed mode.

The safety equipment includes dual front, dual side, dual curtain and knee airbags, and stability control. Cruise control is standard across all the higher trim levels. Starting at a price tag of Php 894,000, 2017 Altis comes in 5 trim level with range-topping variant tagged at Php 1,318,000. Though the new Honda Civic has already gained significant market share since its launch in April but, now the new Corolla Altis will give the sedan a tough competition.
