2019 Honda BR-V: Features explained
To keep things fresh in the segment, Honda has finally launched the 2019 BR-V in the country. The BR-V is one of the best cars in its segment that offers some attractive features.
And with the new model in town, which has been given a few new features, we wouldn’t be surprised to see it on the roads more often than before. So, what makes the 2019 Honda BR-V different from its previous model? Let’s find out.
On the outside
The new BR-V still looks more or less the same and you will be able to recognise it in no time. However, you might not be able to spot the changes that Honda has made on the SUV as they are not that noticeable.
Perhaps, once we take you through all of them, they might get imprinted in your brain and you’d instantly notice them the next time you spot a 2019 BR-V. Following are the new features on the outside of the 2019 Honda BR-V:
New front grille
Honda likes to have prominent front grilles on its cars and the 2019 Honda BR-V isn’t an exception either. Although it already had a thick chrome signature grille on the previous model, Honda has made a slight change on the new 2019 BR-V to improve the car’s overall look and appearance. This time around, we have an additional pair of relatively thinner horizontal chrome stripes below the primary thick chrome slat that provides an elegant and mature look to the BR-V.
LED daytime running lights
The new BR-V gets a pair of distinct LED daytime running lights that are placed inside the headlamps. These are very sharp and aggressive in design and impart the same aesthetic features to the car as well.
Revised front bumper with fog lamps
To make the 2019 BR-V a proper facelift, Honda has also tweaked the front bumper. It isn’t changed that much but still feels much sportier than before. Also, we now get fog lamps that are encased in beautifully crafted housings. These changes and the aforementioned features make the new BR-V look tougher and much distinguished than before. In short, it is a much better-looking car from the front than before.
New alloy wheels
The side profile of the 2019 Honda BR-V remains almost identical. You will notice the same sharp lines on the doors and big windows. Also, the roof rails add to the sportiness of the car. What’s new here is the alloy wheels. Honda has replaced the old design with a new one that looks much sportier and modern. These are 16-inch wheels and suit the personality of the car as well.
Shark fin antenna
This is, perhaps, the most minute addition that you would find on the 2019 Honda BR-V specs sheet; a shark fin antenna. But it’s fine. There’s no harm in adding a stylish antenna, right? Also, even though it’s a small part of the car, it does add to the overall look of the SUV.
On the inside
Just like the outside, the changes on the inside of the new 2019 Honda BR-V are kept to a minimum, however, they are instantly noticeable. All the new features don’t affect the massive cabin space of the car which is sufficient to accommodate seven people. Here are the new additions on the inside of the new BR-V:
Red accents
To freshen things up a bit, Honda has used red accents on various parts on the interior of the new BR-V. For example, you will find red accents on the seats, steering wheel, door panels, armrests, and gear shift knob. It’s a nice touch and we really like it.
Leather trim seats
Taking comfort and premium-ness to a notch higher, the 2019 BR-V gets leather-trimmed seats. They not only look premium but feel premium as well. And, as we mentioned before, they now come with red trimmings for a fresh and welcoming look.
New touch screen display
This is, perhaps, the biggest change inside the new 2019 BR-V and we think it was a much-needed one as well. Honda has included a new seven-inch touch screen display which will enhance the entertainment experience.
A great feature of this system is that it supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and allows easy smartphone integration. So, you can now use functions like navigation, calls, podcasts, music, etc. Honda has also provided a reverse camera on the new BR-V whose live feed will be displayed on the new seven-inch screen. Hence, parking will now be much easier.
So, there you have it guys, these were the major features of the 2019 Honda BR-V. In terms of engine, the new car continues to draw power from the same 1.5-litre engine which produces 120 PS of maximum power at 6,000 rpm and 145 Nm of peak torque that kicks in at 4,600 rpm.
It’s available with a CVT only. The 2019 Honda BR-V price starts at Php 1.04 million and the SUV is available in two variants and six colors - Modern Steel Metallic, Taffeta White, Lunar Silver Metallic, Premium Amber Metallic, Passion Red, and Platinum White Pearl.
