2020 BMW X1 is out with subtle updates

MANILA: A couple of days ago, we introduced you to the all-new 2020 BMW 1 Series. Then came the revisited 1 Series wearing the BMW M performance pack. While the hatch lovers had already received their piece of the cake, the German automaker has now treated with the crossover enthusiasts with the newest iteration of the X1. The updates might not be significant, but the most affordable crossover in the BMW lineup for sure brings a breath of fresh air.

On the outside, the front fascia of the 2020 BMW X1 incorporates a mildly revamped kidney grille, new 1 Series kinda headlamps, and a redesigned bumper. The crossover rides on 18-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels with 19-inch double-spoke units available with the M Performance package. The rear end hasn’t gone under the hammer as much as the front fascia and the alloys with the taillamps being the only element that has received an update.

Hop inside the 2020 BMW X1 and you’ll find pretty much the same interior as before. However, the cabin on the updated crossover looks and feels premium courtesy of the Dakota leather, metal-finished accents, and piano black trimmings. Major updates and new additions inside the X1 include contrast stitching on the instrument panel, floor mats, and a new gear selector.

Moreover, there is also an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes equipped with the likes of Apple CarPlay, BMW ConnectedDrive, BMW iDrive Controller, navigation, voice control, and Harman Kardon sound system.

Coming to the mechanical aspect, the BMW crossover gets multiple diesel and gasoline mills. While the diesel engines can produce from 134 PS to 231 PS of maximum power, the gasoline motors can generate from 114 PS to 228 PS. The transmission options include a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic. Safety features on the 2020 BMW X1 comprise of park assist, reverse camera, frontal collision warning, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, and pedestrian warning.
