2020 Honda City recalled in Thailand

MANILA: Introduced not so long ago in the later part of 2019, the 2020 Honda City has already started giving the Japanese automaker headaches. The updated C-segment sedan was launched in Thailand on November 25, 2019, and due to faulty window seals and rubber beadings, the refreshed car has been recalled in the country. Not only that, but Honda has also directed the dealerships to put the deliveries on hold.

The recall issue is supposedly a result of manufacturing or assembly defect. Honda will now fix the issue or simply replace the part on the already delivered units. On the other hand, the units that were set to be delivered will also undergo the same procedure before making their way to their homes.

Looking at the positive side of the issue, since this was the first batch of the revisited sedan produced at the Ayutthaya production facility, Honda will now be able to rectify the issue before newer batches are rolled out of the factory. The customers who celebrated being the first lot of owners of the new Honda City must now be ruing on their decision.

Anyway, the experience of owning the 2020 Honda City before anyone else also brought along some perks. "Customers who reserve an all-new Honda City between 25 November and 31 December, 2019, and take delivery of the car within 31 January, 2020, will receive a Fitbit Smart Tracker Charge 3 in a graphite/black color", said Honda at the launch.

The revamped sedan now houses a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder unit generating 122 hp of maximum power and 173 Nm of peak torque. The smaller yet more powerful engine comes mated to a CVT. Other new inclusions are LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights, LED taillamps, large touch screen infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, added room inside the cabin, and much more.
