2020 Isuzu D-Max grabs a perfect 5-star safety rating at ASEAN NCAP

MANILA: The Isuzu D-Max is a widely popular pickup truck with a huge fanbase and high sale figures. And, the Japanese pickup truck has only gotten better over time. The newest testament of the fact that the Isuzu D-Max is a very capable and safe pickup truck is the ASEAN NCAP score sheet. In the recently conducted crash tests, the 2020 Isuzu D-Max has clinched on to a perfect 5-star safety rating with great scores in adult occupant protection (AOP) as well as child occupant protection (COP).

Thanks to the presence of standard safety features such as dual SRS airbags and ABS along with optional safety equipment like electronic stability control and blind-spot detection, the 2020 Isuzu D-Max grabbed 42.72, 21.83, and 18.61 points in occupant protection (AOP) as well as child occupant protection (COP), and safety assistance systems categories, respectively. Just in case you're not aware enough, the AOP, COP, and safety assistance systems account for 50%, 25%, and 25% in the total score.

As for the frontal impact, side-impact, and head protection, the D-Max scored 12.36, 16.00, and 2.40 in the three tests, respectively. With those scores, the pickup truck managed to score 30.76 out of 36.00, which is a commendable effort. Moving on to the adult occupant protection test, the Japanese pickup truck received an "adequate" rating for the dummies’ lower legs and both front occupants’ chests and a "marginal" rating for the driver’s right knee and thigh.

In the child occupant protection, the 2020 Isuzu D-Max scored 42.78 points out 49.00 with the scores of 24.00 in the dynamic test, 9.00 in the vehicle-based assessment, and 9.78 in installation. The test was conducted with rearward-facing Britax Baby Safe Plus ISOFIX installed via ISOFIX anchors and supporting leg for an 18-month-old and rearward-facing Maxi Cosi 2Way Pearl for a 3-year-old. The frontal and side-impact tests in the child occupant protection category saw the pickup scoring 16.00 points and 8.00 points in two tests individually.

At last, the 2020 Isuzu D-Max scored a total of 83.16 points in the pickup truck category and, as a result, grabbed a perfect 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating. With the scores out, we bet your next pickup is going to be an Isuzu D-Max, or do you any other pickup on your bucket list?
