All-new 2018 Suzuki Ertiga launched at Indonesia Motor Show
MANILA: Suzuki officially launched the new Ertiga in Indonesia. Earlier today the MPV was unveiled at the ongoing Indonesia International Motor Show. The car looked similar to the images that were leaked prior to its launch on the internet. Also, the 2018 Ertiga specification and features tallied with our pre-launch report.
Suzuki remained numb about next-generation Ertiga price. However, a source close to the company revealed that its price would hike approximately by Rp 10 million, i.e., Php 37,777. Also, the Japanese automaker is taking pre-booking orders for the 2018 Ertiga at the ongoing motor show. Suzuki is expecting to get as many as 1,110 bookings at the ten-day long auto show.
During the 2018 Ertiga launch, Shuji Oishi, Division General Manager and Managing Director of Automobile Asia Division Suzuki Motor Corporation said, "Ertiga holds an important position in Suzuki's global strategy. We will export the MPV to Indonesia, India, and 70 other countries around the world. Off the total production, one-third will take place at the Cikarang plant in West Java. The 2018 Ertiga will be exported to ASEAN countries and America."
Like other MPVs, the next generation Suzuki Ertiga is explicitly designed for the Indonesian market. It will be available in four variants - GA, GL, GX, and GX ESP. While the first three trim names remain same as the old Ertiga, the GX ESP is the new addition and comes with additional safety features like Electronic Stability Program and Hill Start Assist. Offered as standard options are - SRS airbags, ISOFIX, and ABS with EBD.
Powering the new Ertiga is the newly developed K-series K15B coded 1.5-litre DOHC engine with VVT technology. Compared to the previous K14B mill, this one produces more power, reported to be 104.7 PS and 138 Nm. The transmission spec remains same with the choice of a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic options.
Built on the lines of new Swift and Dzire, the 2018 Ertiga sits on the latest HEARTECT platform. Thanks to its rigid chassis and lightweight configuration it will deliver better fuel economy than the ongoing model.
For the Philippines market, the all-new Ertiga is expected to arrive somewhere in August 2018.
