2018 Suzuki Ertiga - Pictures and spec leaked ahead of its official unveiling

MANILA: Tomorrow is a big day for 2018 Ertiga, as the revised MPV will meet the onlookers for the first time at the Indonesia International Motor Show. This car is considered as one of the biggest launches of the upcoming auto show. The media houses were quick enough to take the images and specs from the brochure which was made live by mistake on the official site of Suzuki ID ahead of the official launch. 

The leaked images look quite similar to the rendered images seen everywhere on the internet since the company announced the arrival of new Ertiga. The new Suzuki Ertiga post the 2018 IIMS unveiling, will be first launched in Indonesia, followed by other ASEAN countries. Specifically for the Philippines market, Suzuki is expected to introduce the new Ertiga in August 2018.

1. A new platform

• Suzuki has built the new Ertiga on the recently introduced HEARTECT platform
• This new lightweight platform delivers - better fuel efficiency, better performance, and high rigid underbody
• This platform also underpins the new Dzire and Swift
• Despite the same platform, all three Suzuki cars share no design clues

2. Exterior styling

• The 2018 Ertiga looks nothing like the ongoing model and is bestowed with company's new design language
• Suzuki has tagged it as ‘The New Face of Urban MPV’
• The car features a new front chrome grille that connects with the restyled projector headlamps
• Wrapping the front profile are faux air intakes and stylish fog lamp casing
• The gen-next Ertiga runs on new elegant 15-inch alloy wheels
• Upgrading the exterior tech are electric and foldable ORVM with turn signal lamps and smart entry doors
• The rear end now gets restyled LED combination lamps with light guides, LED high mount stop lamp, and two-point parking sensors on the bumper

3. Cabin features

• Ertiga’s cabin will remind onlookers of the new Dzire, as both share similar design
• The MPV features a spacious cabin that can fit seven adults and lots of luggage
• Suzuki has worked on the styling front, evident from the wooden dash trim and dual-tone seat pattern
• Taking care of passengers comfort are present - Smartplay 6.8-inch touchscreen unit with Bluetooth connectivity, ventilated cup holder, second-row power outlet, and centre console embossed power, USB, and AUX socket
• New Ertiga displays an improved driver’s arena with tilt-adjust leather steering, new meter cluster design, and driver seat height adjuster

4. Revised under the hood configuration

• The all-new Ertiga features the latest in-house developed K15B 1.5-litre DOHC engine, a jump from the ongoing 1.4-litre mill
• Though the output figures are yet to be revealed, it is expected to generate 105 PS of power and 138 Nm of torque
• The said mill can be coupled either to a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission
• This new mill will power all Suzuki’s latest cars - Vitara Brezza, Dzire, Swift, and Ciaz

5. Safety

• The 2018 Ertiga is fitted with all necessary safety features making it a sound family car
• Included in the list are - dual SRS airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System, Electronic Stability Programme, Electronic Brake-Force Distribution, and ISOFIX
