All-new crossover uses a 1.6-liter flex-fuel four-banger
MANILA: Nissan Motor Corporation Limited has expanded its lineup of offerings in Latin America with the introduction of the all-new Kait.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What is the engine of the Brazil-spec Nissan Kait?
In Brazil, the all-new Nissan Kait uses a 1.6-liter inline-four flex-fuel engine that’s capable of using gasoline and ethanol fuel. How much horsepower and torque can the Brazil-spec Nissan Kait produce?
The Brazil-spec Nissan Kait can produce up to 111 horsepower and 149 Newton-meters of torque when using ethanol fuel. The said model is a compact five-seater crossover, and it would very well become a good fit for the local market together with the current Nissan Kicks e-POWER and the upcoming Magnite.
Currently, Nissan Philippines’ offering of crossovers is quite slim, with the Kicks practically carrying the brand in the local scene all by its lonesome. Sure, Land Transportation Office homologation papers have already indicated that the Magnite is coming soon, but the Kait is a slightly larger model with an attractive set of amenities that may also be appealing to Filipinos.
Then again, it seems that the Japanese brand shared that the Kait was directly developed for the needs of Latin American consumers. Granted, it will be exported to 20 markets, but the model will be manufactured in South American territories, which is quite a stretch when thinking about the possibility of shipping to ASEAN countries like the Philippines.
“The Nissan Kait project stems from Nissan’s global experience in developing SUVs that integrate solutions to meet the needs of Latin American consumers, strengthening our participation in this growing and highly competitive segment,” President of Nissan Latin America Guy Rodríguez said.
“We are proud to manufacture and commercialize this vehicle first in Brazil and Latin America, and I am confident it will be embraced by our customers in our region by inheriting key elements of robustness, reliability, and quality from our best-selling platform,” Rodríguez added.
