All-new second-generation Suzuki Ertiga to be launched on Jan 23

MANILA: The Ertiga is among Suzuki’s best selling cars not only in the Philippines but in other countries as well. But for some unknown reason, Suzuki didn’t bring the second-generation Ertiga to our land. Ever since its debut at the 2018 Indonesia International Motor Show in April, we’ve been waiting for Suzuki to give us the new model. Well, now it’s time. Suzuki is bringing the all-new second-generation Ertiga in the Philippines.

The new Ertiga is very different from its predecessor. Suzuki has redesigned it to make sure it is a modern car in a modern world. At the front, we no longer see old-fashioned headlights, instead, we’ve now got large projector headlamps. The design of the headlamps is also new.

Suzuki has also revised the front grille. It has these nice small horizontal chrome bars placed at equal distances. They bring a refreshing look to the car. Also, the front bumper gets a minor tweak to house in the fog lamps.

The rear end of the all-new Ertiga also gets a revamp. The tail lights now sit vertical and are two-piece combination units. They somewhat look similar to that of the Honda CR-V. The side profile of the car is kept busy by sharp character lines that run at the top and bottom.

We are also expecting to see a major overhaul in the interior of the new Ertiga. Of course, it is still going to be a 7-seater but Suzuki would have incorporated new features like a better dashboard, improved infotainment system, etc.

The current Ertiga that is on sale in the country at a starting price of Php 699,000 for the base model, has a 1.4-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 95 hp and 130 Nm. There are two transmission options - 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. Suzuki has not released any information regarding the engine of the new Ertiga but it is being speculated that we are most likely to get the same 1.5-litre engine that is employed in the car in the Indonesian market. This engine is slightly powerful and produces 103 hp and 138 Nm.
