All-new Volkswagen Tiguan launched at MIAS 2017

MANILA: In order to refresh its SUV lineup, the German automaker has launched its one of the prominent SUVs in the Philippines. Yes, the much awaited all-new Volkswagen Tiguan has been launched at the ongoing MIAS 2017. The updated Volkswagen Tiguan is the second generation model which has received a major makeover since its launch in the Philippines in 2013. The updated Tiguan was first showcased at the Frankfurt auto show last year and now finally its has made to the Philippines' shore.

The long wheelbase version of the SUV is not offered in the country and only the short wheelbase version (SWB) will be available. The SUV is available in the Comfortline variant which is powered by a 1.4-litre TSI motor with BlueMotion technology. The engine churns out 150 PS maximum power while the peak torque measures 250 Nm. The engine is further coupled to a 6-speed DSG dual clutch automatic transmission and is compliant with the Euro-6 emission regulations. The power mill is also coupled to a regenerative braking system and automatic start-stop function to achieve improved fuel economy.

In the cabin, the standard features of the all-new Tiguan include automatic climate control, a 6.5-inch touchscreen multimedia head unit, App-connect, 8-speakers, Bluetooth, a USB port, an AUX-in port, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold. Some of the key safety measures in the all-new Tiguan include seven airbags, anti-lock brakes (ABS), anti-slip regulation (ASR), electronic differential lock (EDL) and electronic stability program (ESP).
